This article is a data-driven deep dive on strategic decision-making and roster construction for DFS cash games and tournaments. It relies heavily upon FantasyLabs’ extensive suite of analytical DFS tools, as well as advanced metrics and film study. First, I walk through narrowing down the player pool at each position. Then, I lay out how to choose the highest-floor lineup combinations for cash games. Finally, I go game-by-game to present the biggest edges (stacks, pivots, leverage opportunities, etc.) in each.
The 2019 NFL playoffs kick off this Saturday with Texans-Bills at 4:35 p.m. ET. DraftKings is featuring its biggest contests in a main slate with all four games and also offers Saturday- and Sunday-only contests, while FanDuel’s featured slates are Saturday- and Sunday-only, though they are also offering a four-game slate. This breakdown will primarily focus on the main slate, though lineup builds for the one-day slates are also discussed in the section on Lineup Construction. Both sites also feature single-game showdown contests, so I will also be publishing Showdown breakdowns for each game.

Quarterback (Cash)
- Drew Brees, Saints ($6,600 DK, $8,500 FD) vs. MIN
With the Saints implied to score a slate-high 29 points despite a tough matchup with the Vikings, Drew Brees clocks in with the highest floor projection on the slate in our NFL Player Models. Excluding Week 2 when Brees was knocked out after nine snaps, Brees is averaging a +5.4 Plus/Minus and 80% Consistency Rating this season.
