Which quarterbacks have the most favorable fantasy matchups? Who is the best streaming option? And who has a poor matchup?
Here’s a breakdown of five notable quarterbacks featured in Sean Koerner, Chris Raybon and Matthew Freedman’s Week 9 fantasy football rankings.
The No. 1 QB
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Cam carries an average rank of 1.3 among our rankers, which barely edges out Patrick Mahomes’ 1.7 average rank. He’ll have the luxury of facing a Buccaneers defense that is among the worst in the league with 6.5 yards per play allowed.
More importantly, Cam has an absurd floor as he leads all quarterbacks with 62 rushing attempts and 44.1 rushing yards per game, per Sports Info Solutions.
He leads all Week 9 quarterbacks with his median projection in the FantayLabs Player Models.
The Most Favorable Matchups
Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams
The Rams vs. Saints game has high-scoring affair written all over it. This game presently has an implied total of 60, and the Rams have an implied total of 29 points. Overall, the Saints are allowing 8.7 yards per attempt and 300.0 passing yards per game this year — both are bottom five marks in the league, per Pro Football Reference.
The only downside with Goff is if Todd Gurley racks up all the touchdowns from in close. Goff carries an average rank of 6.3 among our rankers.
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings
Cousins draws a matchup against Pro Football Focus‘ No. 31 pass-coverage unit. Outside of his effort against the Bills in Week 3, Cousins hasn’t scored any less than 17.5 fantasy points this season.
Overall, he boasts a top-five ceiling, median, and floor projection in the FantasyLabs Player Models.
Matchup Downgrade
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Roethlisberger is notorious for his drastic home/road splits as he’s averaged 18.49 fantasy points on the road, compared to 28.01 at home since 2016. Now he heads to Baltimore to take on an elite Ravens defense that’s allowing just 4.7 yards per play.
The Steelers have a weak 22.5-point implied team total and all of our rankers have Big Ben ranked 15th or worse this week.
The Best Streamer
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Fitzpatrick will make his triumphant return against the Panthers in Week 9. He’s been on fire this season, averaging a league-best 10.8 yards per attempt, per Sports Info Solutions.
He cracks the top 10 among all of our rankers for Week 9.
