At FantasyLabs, we believe that we have the best daily fantasy sports tools and data available. We also realize that these tools and data are only as beneficial as our ability to communicate their functionality and worth.
With this in mind, our Trend of the Day series features articles that walk subscribers each weekday through an important trend, created with our FREE Trends tool. Also, shortly after you create a trend, you will be able to see it under the “My Trends” column in our Player Models.
MLB Trend of the Day: Top-Of-The-Order Favorites With High Team Totals
Today’s trend is straightforward: We’re looking for prime cash-game batting options. As mentioned above, you can plug in this trend yourself and you will be able to see it under the “My Trends” section of Player Models, allowing you to quickly identify great cash-game options every day.
Step 1A: Vegas Filters > Favorite/Dog > Favorite
Step 1B: Player Filters > Lineup Order > 1 through 3
This is a basic step. By now, we all know that hitters at the top of the order have more opportunities for success. And, of course, favored teams are projected to score more runs than their opponents.
Step 2: Vegas Filters > Runs > 4.8 to 5.8
By filtering to teams that are at or above 4.8 implied Vegas runs, we’re getting only the cream of the slate’s crop. When creating this trend on your own, you don’t have to restrict the range. I did right now because I want a more accurate sample for any current matches this might spit out.
Step 3: Trends > Pro Trends > 7 to 12
This move cuts our sample to one-fifth its previous size and bumps our Plus/Minus by about +1.5. It also adds about four percentage points to our Consistency, which is massive in cash games. (Again, go ahead and set the top end of this filter to 15 to ensure you catch anyone who qualifies with more than 12 Pro Trends.)
Plus/Minus, Consistency, and other premium exclusive metrics are accessible via our free Ratings tool.
Results
We have several matches that will make for good cash-game plays. Always watch line movement, however, as players could fall out of our ranges that we set. Our players are Michael Bourn, Mookie Betts, Bryce Harper, Jean Segura, Jayson Werth, and Paul Goldschmidt.
Good luck!
