This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze three key NHL players in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.
Marc-Andre Fleury: Goalie, Penguins
Matt Murray suffered an injury in the warmups of the first game of the series; thus it has been the Marc-Andre Fleury show. Tonight, the Penguins look to finish off the series as they take a 3-1 series lead back home. Be mindful that while Fleury is the most expensive goalie on DraftKings he is the fifth-most expensive starter on FanDuel, where he has a slate-high 72 percent Bargain Rating.
Given that the Penguins are the biggest favorites in the slate (per the Vegas Dashboard) . . .
. . . Fleury is a strong option in cash games. He’s also in play in guaranteed prize pools, although he’s likely to have the highest ownership of any starting goalie in the slate.
Viktor Arvidsson: Winger, Predators
Ryan Johansen, Viktor Arvidsson, and Filip Forsberg formed one of the best NHL lines in the regular season. The three make for a great GPP stack, which Pro subscribers can easily add to rosters with our Lineup Builder. This first line has continued to dominate in the playoffs, and Arvidsson has historically had success against Chicago (per our Trends tool):
Over the last two seasons, Arvidsson has a +3.92 Plus/Minus on FanDuel against Chicago with a low ownership of just 4.7 percent. In the playoffs, Arvidsson’s ownership is yet to break above 12 percent in the high stakes $300 Triple Deke tournament (per our DFS Ownership Dashboard). He’s not cheap enough to be considered a punt play, but he remains underpriced relative to his production.
Joe Pavelski: Winger, Sharks
After completely dominating the Oilers 7-0 last game, the Sharks head to Edmonton looking to take the series lead. Joe Pavelski has seen his ownership rise considerably since the beginning of the playoffs. Through four games, his ownership in the $300 GPP has gone from one percent to 22 percent last game (per our DFS Ownership Dashboard):
With an 8.26 Volatility Rating and 1.77 GPP Grade, Pavelski on April 18 (Tuesday) had a much higher ownership in the high-stakes Triple Deke than the $4 Forecheck, making him one of the sharpest plays in the slate. As the playoffs have continued, high-stakes tournament players have been more bullish on San Jose than low-stakes players, although it’s possible that tonight the Sharks could experience lower ownership on the road.
Pavelski’s not cheap, but he might be worth the investment: He’s one of the highest-rated wingers in our Player Models.
