PGA DFS: Top Cash Game Picks for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on DraftKings

Next on the PGA TOUR schedule is the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at the Port Royal Golf Course (par 71, 6,828 yards, Bermuda greens) in South Hampton. This event has been an annual stop on the PGA TOUR since 2019, and all five editions have been played at Port Royal. Tying the tournament record at -24 a year ago, Camilo Villegas is the defending champion of the Bermuda Championship. This week’s field features 120 players, and there will be a normal top-65 and ties cut after the first 36 holes.

The PGA DFS Breakdown offers data-driven analysis for each week’s slate, using the FantasyLabs Tools and metrics to highlight notable golfers.

I’ll be highlighting the best cash game/single-entry plays on the DraftKings main slate, but these players are often great options in any contest.

My analysis will frequently reference Strokes Gained, a set of proprietary metrics generated by the PGA TOUR using millions of data points to calculate how many shots, on average, it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation.

Strokes Gained is now available in the FantasyLabs PGA Models.

There are a variety of Strokes Gained-related metrics, but the six main categories you need to know include:

  • Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (SG: Off-the-Tee)
  • Strokes Gained: Approach (SG: Approach)
  • Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (SG: Around-the-Green)
  • Strokes Gained: Putting (SG: Putting)
  • Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking (SG: Ball-Striking), which is SG: Off-the-Tee + SG: Approach
  • Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (SG: Tee-to-Green), which is SG: Ball-Striking + SG: Around-the-Green

Don’t forget to check out two key metrics in our models — Perfect% and SimLeverage. You can find an explainer on those metrics here.

The cliff notes version is that you can use SimLeverage to quickly find leverage plays in tournaments, while Perfect% is great for finding the best price-considered plays for cash games.

And don’t forget to utilize our various PGA DFS tools like our Lineup OptimizerLineup Builder, PGA Correlation Dashboard, and our Trends tool.

DraftKings $10,000+ Range

Seamus Power ($10,500) – Power has been stellar at Port Royal. After finishing T12th at the track in 2021, the Irishman won at Port Royal the following year, and he has never finished worse than T37th at the par 72 in four tries. Power returns to Bermuda this week playing outstanding golf, with four top-13 finishes in his last five starts. Power ranks fourth in par-4 efficiency when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, and he should contend for his second Bermuda Championship title this weekend. Notably, all five of the winners at Port Royal have finished the event top five in par-4 efficiency.

Now available: our PGA DFS SimLabs Lineup Generator that creates advanced DFS lineups using the power of simulation.

DraftKings $9,000 Range

Patrick Rodgers ($9,500) – Rodgers has carded back-to-back top-five finishes at Port Royal, and he has only missed one cut in his last 12 starts entering this week. Rodgers has tallied four top-25 finishes during this stretch and is an extremely safe choice this week.

Justin Lower ($9,300) – Lower nearly won the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico last week, finishing runner-up to Austin Eckroat by one shot. Lower gained strokes in every major category at El Cardonal, and his 9-under 63 during the third round tied his career-low on the PGA TOUR. Lower will now look to carry this momentum over to Port Royal, where he never finished outside the top 20 in three appearances, most notably with a T8 two years ago. Lower’s 15th-place average finish at the par 72 is the best in the field among all the players who have played at Port Royal more than once. He is a superb spend at this salary.

DraftKings $8,000 Range

Kevin Yu ($8,100) – Yu finished T30th in his debut at Port Royal last season, and he has the potential to outdo himself with an even higher result at the par 72 this week. Yu has finished 1st, MC, and T16th in his last three starts, and this run has moved him up 61 spots in the world golf rankings to a career-best No.71. Evident from his win at the CC of Jackson last month, Yu is at his best on Bermuda grass, and he is far too cheap for his upside.

Jacob Bridgeman ($8,000) – Bridgeman has never competed at Port Royal before, but the 24-year-old is a great match for the course and way underpriced for his current form. Bridgeman has made six of his last seven cuts and four of these finishes have impressively been top-20 results. The Clemson product ranks third in par-4 efficiency and fifth in SG: Putting when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds and all five of the victors at Port Royal have finished the tournament top five in both putts per round and par-4 efficiency. Plus, Bridgeman excels on Bermuda greens. When we analyze this field’s last 50 rounds at courses that present this type of putting surface, Bridgeman ranks fourth in strokes gained per round via the Rabbit Hole.

DraftKings $7,000 Range

Alex Smalley ($7,900) – Smalley is a terrific combination of compelling course history and current form. The 28-year-old has finished T12th, T11th, and T30th at Port Royal the last three years, and Smalley has only missed two cuts in his last nine starts coming into this week, including three top-25 finishes. Smalley was far more expensive for last year’s Bermuda Championship at $8,900, and he simply can’t be ignored at this affordable $7,900 price tag.

Greyson Sigg ($7,800) – Sigg’s form is undeniable, with him finishing T4th, MC, T11th and T23rd in his four starts this fall. Sigg has collectively gained strokes on approach and with his putter during all three of these high finishes, and he has finished T22nd and T11th in his two visits to Port Royal. Sigg is gaining a strong 1.6 strokes per round at the coastal par 72, and getting him at less than $8,000 is robbery this week.

Nick Hardy ($7,600) – Per usual, Hardy is underpriced for his safety and is an appealing target for cash games. The 28-year-old is coming off a T30th finish at the World Wide Technology Championship last week, which is his sixth made cut and third top-30 finish in his last seven starts. Hardy ranks top 12 in both SG: Approach and par-4 efficiency when we analyze this field’s last 24 rounds, and he has finished T23rd and T45th at Port Royal the last two years.

Lanto Griffin ($7,000) – Griffin has advanced to the weekend in both his starts at Port Royal – including a T18 in 2019 – and is a steal at this salary. The veteran was priced at $7,900 the last time he competed in a Bermuda Championship, and Griffin has made six cuts in a row, with two top-30 finishes coming during this streak. The 36-year-old gained strokes with his irons in all but one of these last six starts, and he is a safe bet to make the cut this week.

DraftKings $6,000 and Below Range

Trace Crowe ($6,900) – Focusing on the plethora of appealing values in the $7,000 range is a more optimal route for cash games this week, but if forced to dip into the $6,000 range, Crowe is the best option. This will be the 28-year-old’s debut at Port Royal, but Crowe has been solid recently, making seven of his last 10 cuts, including a pair of top-25 finishes. Crowe ranks 10th in Birdie or Better percentage and 24th in SG: Approach when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, and his +9000 odds to win the Bermuda Championship on the DraftKings Sportsbook are the best among all the golfers priced under $7,000 for DFS purposes.
