With the majority of Survivor contests finished or near completion, I’m going to be ignoring contests that started at the beginning of the season and instead focus on “Revival” type tournaments, such as those available on Splash Sports. We had a 2-1 week last week on picks, but unfortunately my top choice, the Jets, took an inexcusable home loss to the Broncos. Let’s try to get a sweep in Week 5 which looks like a tough week from a big favorites perspective.
My Favorite Survivor Pick: Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks get a home matchup against the Giants, who look like they could be without Malik Nabers on Sunday. The loss of Nabers would be impossible to make up for, but even if he suits up from a concussion, the QB play of Daniel Jones will always keep the Giants offense from excelling. Seattle just lost in Detroit, but that game was about as impressive as you can be in a loss. Seattle’s run game should dominate this one while the trio of WRs provides playmaking ability at all levels of the field. Geno Smith is one of the better QBs in the league right now in this new era of NFL coverages.
This is also likely to be the biggest favorite Seattle is for the rest of the season. So it makes a ton of sense to burn them Week 5.
Option 2: San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are home to the Cardinals who just flopped last week in a home matchup against Washington. Like Geno Smith above, Brock Purdy is another QB that is thriving relative to his peers at the QB position in this new era of shell coverages in the NFL. Even with Christian McCaffrey still out, the 49ers are loaded with talent at the receiving core and Jordan Mason has been getting it done on the ground. If the 49ers can get up in this game they should have a tough time stopping this 49ers offense that should be able to do whatever they want on offense this week.
This is also very likely to be as heavily favored as the 49ers are for the rest of the season. I expect Seattle to be the most used team this week, so the 49ers give you a nice swerve on ownership along with a great chance at the W.
Third Pick
In full transparency, I have no third pick this week. It 100% is not the Chiefs as I vehemently disagree with the Vegas line in that one. If I was forced I would probably look at the Bears as home favorites against the Panthers or even Washington at home against a Browns team that is struggling both with QB play and OL injuries. With the bye weeks kicking in now, it’s going to be harder to find strong teams to play in Survivor and I really like both top plays to advance. Being contrarian has worked to open the season as offenses have had a hard time adjusting to the new NFL, but now we know much more about who these teams are and can start leaning into the “good” teams.
