Welcome back for Week 2. With all of the injuries and drama surrounding the Bengals after this article went up last week, I’m hoping you made the switch to one of the other teams, as both the Saints and Bills ended up advancing. Let’s take a look at a few teams that can get you through to Week 3, starting with my top survivor pick of the week.

And don’t forget to sign up for the NFL Survivor Revival contest, where you can take on myself and others in the community as we battle it out for $20,000.

Current Record (2-1)

Best NFL Week 2 Survivor Pick: Baltimore Ravens

After seeing how the Chargers dominated the Raiders on the ground in Week 1, I find it hard to believe that the Baltimore Ravens aren’t going to at least duplicate that performance against them in Week 2. Derrick Henry was acquired for games like this, to help take the offensive burden off of Lamar Jackson, so I’m expecting a huge game from him. We also saw Raiders HC Antonio Pierce make some of the most dumbfounding coaching decisions in recent memory in Week 1, and while I’m sure he’s realized his mistakes, it seems he is clearly over his head as an NFL head coach after a feel-good ending to the 2023 season got him the coaching gig.

The Ravens also don’t have a game you would want to deploy them again in theory until Week 6 at home vs. Washington, and if you don’t use them there, you might have to wait until much later in the season to use them against the Giants. Let’s take the easy route and advance to Week 3 with the big home favorite.

More Week 2 Survivor Picks

  • Option 2: Los Angeles Chargers
  • Option 3: Philadelphia Eagles

The Chargers make a nice swerve pick of the chalky Ravens if you want to get tricky. They play the Panthers in Carolina, and while I don’t love taking road teams early in Survivor, the Panthers looked just as bad, if not worse, than they did last season in their opener in New Orleans. The Saints ran for 180 yards in that one, which plays right into the Chargers’ strength. The Panthers also lost Pro Powl DE Derrick Brown for the season in this one. With no offense and injuries taking away a great defensive player, the Panthers look like THE team to target against right now.

This is clearly going to be the best spot all season to use the Chargers until Week 16/17 if you are still alive, so using them here in Week 2 makes a ton of sense if you want to keep the Ravens available to you.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles host the Falcons this week, who lost to a Justin Fields-led team that didn’t score a Touchdown in Week 1. The Falcons’ offense was severely limited by Kirk Cousins’ immobility, as he dropped back from under center 25-of-26 pass attempts with little to no movement or creativity to the offense as he returned from an Achilles injury. If Cousins is this immobile yet again, any defense with a heartbeat is going to be able to tee off on him, as they literally know what is coming.

The Eagles, for their part, played a pretty horrific 1st quarter against the Packers but quickly found some rhythm, successfully getting all of their star players involved. Saquan had his juice back behind a solid offensive line while A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith did their thing. Hurts didn’t play his best, but the field conditions allowed for at least one interception, which can be attributed to some of the poor results we saw elsewhere. At home, in familiar conditions, they should be able to dominate this Falcons team on both sides of the ball.

The Eagles probably have the most future value left of any team, meaning you’ll want to consider whether you should save them for later or now. They have two games against the Giants and Commanders and a home game against the Panthers later in the year. I expect them to win, but it might be better to save them for another week, depending on how you want to approach things.
