OwnersBox is one of the unique DFS sites that still has traditional daily salary cap contests in addition to their Lightning Lineups contests.
In Lightning Lineups, the OwnersBox app will provide three sets of lineups for a given sport and slate, each lineup with three players. From there, users pick which lineup they think will score the most points. If you don’t like the options, you can spin for new lineups.
Spin. Pick. Win. OwnersBox innovative Lighting Lineups format is the most electric way to play daily fantasy sports.
Another reason to sign up with OwnersBox is their current Big Game Giveaway promotion. When you enter a lineup, you’ll earn “giveaway entries” for their Big Game drawing. What can you win? Two FRONT ROW tickets to Super Bowl LVIII + a VIP Fan Experience + Meet & Greets + Flights & Accommodations — over $40K in value!
Also, our OwnersBox promo code delivers new users a $500 sign-up offer. Their 100% deposit match up to $500 is by far the best among DFS sites.
Anyway, this article will focus on the more traditional salary cap DFS lineups that we’re all accustomed to. The best part about OwnersBox is their DFS product is a Superflex format with no defense.
I’ll be highlighting my favorite play at each position using our NFL projections inside our NFL Player Models.

NFL DFS Quarterback Pick
Trevor Lawrence ($6,700) vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Trevor Lawrence is the seventh-most expensive QB in OwnersBox’s salary structure this week, but he has the fifth-highest ceiling and median projections and the second-highest floor projection behind only Josh Allen, who is the most expensive option on the board. Allen is also the only one who ranks higher than Lawrence in terms of Points per Salary. While Allen is also a strong play, Lawrence is a great chance to save some salary and still get plenty of potential.
In Week 1, he led the Jaguars to a comeback win over the Colts. While beating the Colts may not seem that impressive, he was on the road against a divisional opponent and still cooly led the comeback. He finished 24-for-32 with 241 yards and two passing touchdowns. He was a perfect 4-for-4, with both those touchdown throws coming from plays in the red zone. Lawrence also had seven carries for 21 yards and nearly ran for a touchdown on a designed run.
Lawrence’s Jaguars lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs last year, but he had a strong showing overall with 217 yards, a passing touchdown, and 26 yards rushing. The matchup has the highest over/under of the 12 games scheduled for Sunday, so you’ll want to use the Superflex abilities to get as many players from this game in your lineup as you can.
After a strong Week 1, Lawrence definitely deserves to be part of that plan.
NFL DFS Running Back Pick
Christian McCaffrey ($7,600) at Los Angeles Rams
There are times to try and save some salary, but there are also times to pay up to get the top producers available. This week against the Los Angeles Rams, Christian McCaffrey definitely seems to fit in the latter category.
He’s the most expensive running back on the board, but he has the highest ceiling, median, and floor projections by a large margin. He also has the highest Points per Salary of any running back on the slate since he’s projected for so much volume in an offense that looked elite in Week 1.
McCaffrey only had one touchdown in Week 1 but still dominated with 22 carries for 152 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding three catches for 17 more yards. The dynamic, do-everything back is clearly the focus of Kyle Shanahan’s offense, and his play-making ability is perfectly suited for San Francisco’s style.
As long as he’s healthy and getting so much work, McCaffrey will be a top option that will need to be considered on every slate.
NFL DFS Wide Receiver Pick
Jahan Dotson ($4,700) at Denver Broncos
If you spend big on Jaguars, Chiefs, and CMC, you may need some salary savers to fill in your other roster spots. Fortunately, the pass-catching ranks are stuffed with value opportunities in Week 2. One option that is coming in a little off the radar but could be set up for major success is Commanders second-year receiver Jahan Dotson.
Dotson played 62 of 71 snaps in Week 1 for Washington and was second on the team with seven targets from first-year starting quarterback Sam Howell. Dotson tied for the lead in catches with five and finished with 40 yards. Last year, he showed the ability to get into the end zone with seven touchdowns in just 12 games, and he should be a key red zone option again this season.
Last week, the Broncos had cornerback Patrick Surtain work on shutting down Davante Adams but gave up a pair of touchdowns to Jakobi Myers. If the Commanders look to attack the same mismatch, it could mean big things for Dotson in Week 2.
Dotson is projected for the most Points per Salary of any receiver under $5.5K, and he has the highest median ceiling projections of all receivers under $5K.
NFL DFS Tight End Pick
Luke Musgrave ($3,800) at Atlanta Falcons
The Packers used a second-round pick on Luke Musgrave out of Oregon State, and the rookie tight end has quickly proven he can be a nice option that can grow alongside first-year starter Jordan Love. The Packers looked sharp in their Week 1 win over the Bears, and Musgrave was an integral part of their offense.
He played 75% of the snaps and had three catches for 50 yards. He and Love almost connected on two big plays that could have been touchdowns but didn’t quite result in his first NFL score. Musgrave led all tight ends in aDOT (average depth of target) in Week 1.
Musgrave should be set up to build on his Week 1 success and possibly reach the end zone this week in a good matchup against the Falcons. Last week, they allowed five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown to Hayden Hurst of the Panthers.
With Christian Watson (hamstring) still potentially limited or out, there should continue to be plenty of opportunities for Musgrave to step up and deliver. He has the third-highest ceiling, median, and floor projections of the tight ends under $4K, along with the fourth-highest projected Points per Salary.
