NFL DFS Picks: Top OwnersBox Plays for the Divisional Round

OwnersBox is one of the unique DFS sites that still has traditional daily salary cap contests in addition to their Lightning Lineups contests.

In Lightning Lineups, the OwnersBox app will provide three sets of lineups for a given sport and slate, each lineup with three players. From there, users pick which lineup they think will score the most points. If you don’t like the options, you can spin for new lineups.

Spin. Pick. Win. OwnersBox innovative Lighting Lineups format is the most electric way to play daily fantasy sports.

Also, our OwnersBox promo code delivers new users a $500 sign-up offer. Their 100% deposit match up to $500 is by far the best among DFS sites.

Anyway, this article will focus on the more traditional salary cap DFS lineups that we’re all accustomed to. The best part about OwnersBox is their DFS product is a Superflex format with no defense.

I’ll be highlighting my favorite play at each position using our NFL projections inside our NFL Player Models.

NFL DFS Quarterback Pick

Lamar Jackson ($7,500) vs. Houston Texans

Jackson led the Ravens to the top seed in the AFC, and they’ll start off the four-game slate this weekend by hosting the upstart Texans. Jackson has the highest Pts/Sal of any player at any position this week, making him a great play, especially in the SuperFlex format. He has only the fourth-highest salary on the board but brings the highest ceiling projection and second-highest median projections of all options at all positions.

The Ravens beat the Texans 25-9 all the way back in Week 1, as Lamar started the year with just 169 passing yards, three turnovers, and no touchdowns. That was his lowest-scoring fantasy game of the season, even though the Ravens cruised to a fairly comfortable win. As the year went on, he settled into new Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken’s system and finished with a flourish down the stretch.

In his most recent outing, Jackson threw five touchdowns in a home rout of the Dolphins to finish the season with 24 passing touchdowns and an average of 229.9 passing yards per game. He also ran for five scores and averaged just over 50 rushing yards per game. He was especially productive as a passer at home, where he threw for 254.9 yards per game while averaging 25.6 DKFP.

The Texans have improved their defense as the season has gone on, but they are still one of the shakiest units of the remaining eight teams. Opposing quarterbacks have averaged 256.4 passing yards per game against them and were able to run for seven scores in their 18 games this season.

Given his additional rushing potential and his great record at home, Jackson is set up in prime position to deliver a big week. He also could get an added boost from getting security blanket Mark Andrews back from an ankle injury that has had him on the sideline since Week 11. Andrews would be a huge addition to the offense and make Jackson an even stronger play in this potentially high-scoring contest.

NFL DFS Running Back Pick

James Cook ($5,900) vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Bills have taken some flack at times over the last few years for being one-dimensional, but this season, their impressive late-season run has been fueled by incorporating Cook as a featured part of their offense. This weekend, he has the second-highest Pts/Sal behind only Christian McCaffrey, who is always a top pay-up option.

The second-year player from Georgia began the year as a starter but only averaged 12 rushing attempts per game through the first nine games of the season.  In the final eight games of the regular season, he averaged 16.1 rush attempts per game and produced 77.0 rushing yards and 29.3 receiving yards per game while scoring a total of four touchdowns.

Last week, his heavier workload continued as he had 18 carries for 79 yards and added four catches for five yards against the Steelers. He didn’t have a touchdown and often loses opportunities near the end zone to Josh Allen. Despite those missed chances, Cook’s contributions as a receiver counteract that challenge enough to still make him an option worth a look.

The Chiefs gave up 83 yards on five catches to Cook in their regular-season matchup and allowed an average of 84.4 rushing yards and 27.7 receiving yards per game. They are a pretty neutral matchup overall, which is enough to make Cook one of the best running back plays of the weekend, especially at this salary.

NFL DFS Wide Receiver Pick

Amon-Ra St. Brown ($7,600) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

St. Brown has the highest Pts/Sal of all receivers this weekend, along with the highest median, ceiling, and floor projection. He’s an expensive play at $7,600 but has the potential to be well worth the investment.

Last week, St. Brown caught 7-of-9 targets for 110 yards. He has at least 90 yards in five straight games, averaging 7.8 catches on 10.0 targets for 112.4 yards per game and totaling four touchdowns during that span. St. Brown is the clear go-to option for the Lions passing game, and he gets a good matchup against the Bucs this week.

During the regular season, St. Brown had 12 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown against Tampa Bay, and wide receivers have totaled over 180 receiving yards against the Bucs in four of their last six contests, including last week’s against the Eagles. Wide receivers have 14 touchdowns against Tampa Bay in their 18 games this season.

With many of the elite receivers exiting in the first round, St. Brown is the top pay-up option remaining for this week. Our projections indicate he’ll be worth his hefty salary in this favorable spot.

NFL DFS Tight End Pick

Travis Kelce ($6,000) at Buffalo Bills

For the second straight week, Kelce has the highest median, ceiling, and floor projection at tight end on OwnersBox. He also has the highest Pts/Sal at the position. He caught 7-of-10 targets for 71 yards in last week’s win over the Dolphins and should again be a go-to option in the passing game for Patrick Mahomes.

Kelce has 16 touchdowns in his 19 playoff games, including 10 in his last 10 playoff games. He had six catches for 83 yards in the regular season matchup between these teams and eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown in their 2022 playoff matchup.

The Bills defense was good against tight ends this season, allowing just three tight end touchdowns all year. They did allow 81 yards to the Steelers’ tight ends last week, though, so they’re not a matchup that totally needs to be avoided.

Even though it isn’t exactly a smash spot, this game should have enough offense to make Kelce the safest tight end play on the board. Many of the other options at the position are recovering from injuries or in uncertain roles. One other play that stands out from a value perspective is Tucker Kraft of the Packers, who only has a $3,400 salary and the third-highest Pts/Sal at the position.
