NBA DFS Picks: Top OwnersBox Plays for Friday (Apr. 19)

OwnersBox is one of the unique DFS sites that still has traditional daily salary cap contests in addition to their Lightning Lineups contests.

In Lightning Lineups, the OwnersBox app will provide three sets of lineups for a given sport and slate, each lineup with three players. From there, users pick which lineup they think will score the most points. If you don’t like the options, you can spin for new lineups.

Spin. Pick. Win. OwnersBox innovative Lighting Lineups format is the most electric way to play daily fantasy sports.

However, they also have a traditional DFS format, which will be the focus of this article.

For OwnersBox, you use four guards, four forwards/centers, and one Superflex.

Also, our OwnersBox promo code delivers new users a $500 sign-up offer. Their 100% deposit match of up to $500 is by far the best among DFS sites.

Let’s dive into some of the top plays on the slate using the FantasyLabs tools and projections.

Also, don’t forget that for large-field tournaments, you can utilize our Lineup Optimizer to effortlessly create up to 300 lineups or use our Lineup Builder if you like to hand-build your lineups.

Note: Projections may change throughout the day after this article is posted. The NBA DFS landscape changes quickly.

NBA DFS Guard Picks

Tyler Herro ($6,700) vs. Chicago Bulls

The Heat will be without Jimmy Butler (knee) and Terry Rozier (neck) on Friday against the Bulls, which will leave lots of work in the offense for Herro and Bam Adebayo. Herro has the second-highest ceiling projection of all guards on Friday’s two-game slate and the second-highest Pts/Sal as well.

Herro led the Heat with 27 field goal attempts against the 76ers on Wednesday and finished with a solid 25 points and nine assists. Since he shot just 4-for-14 from long-range, there’s the potential for much more production if he makes his usual percentage of shots on Friday. With Butler and Rozier off the floor this season, Herro has a team-high 29.0% usage rate.

After returning from his own extended injury absence, Herro averaged 21.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in his last six regular season games. He scored 20+ points in three of those games, and after dropping 25 in the first game of the Play-In Tournament, the Heat will need him to fill up the scoresheet against the Bulls if they want to move on to face the Celtics. His high volume will give him both a high ceiling and a high floor this Friday.

Keon Ellis ($4,000) at New Orleans Pelicans

The Kings have relied on Ellis to play a much larger role since injuries to Malik Monk (knee) and Kevin Huerter (shoulder). The second-year guard has been up to the task, and he brings the highest Pts/Sal of all guards on Friday’s slate.

Ellis played a massive 39 minutes on Tuesday in the first game of the Play-In Tournament and totaled 15 points, five assists, four rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. Over the last two weeks, Ellis averaged 11.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game with a 16.9% usage rate.

After Tuesday’s great game on both ends of the floor, Ellis should get another start as Sacramento tries to move past the Pelicans and set up a first-round matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. In that expanded role, Ellis should be the best bargain guard to go with on Friday.

NBA DFS Forward/Center Picks

Domantas Sabonis ($8,600) at New Orleans Pelicans

The stunning statistical season of Sabonis continues to roll on into the postseason. He led the NBA with 77 double-doubles and 26 triple-doubles while playing all 82 games for the Kings this season. He averaged 19.4 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per contest while playing 35.7 minutes per game.

On Tuesday, he had 16 points, 12 boards, and seven assists against the Warriors while the Kings cruised to a 24-point win. He should be ready to smash against the Pelicans, who won’t have Zion Williamson (hamstring), leaving them short-handed up front.

Sabonis has the highest ceiling projection on Friday’s slate by over 10 fantasy points on OwnersBox. He also has the fifth-highest Pts/Sal on the whole slate. If you can save up the salary, he’s a great spend-up spot on Friday.

Keegan Murray ($4,800) at New Orleans Pelicans

The two highest Pts/Sal at forward/center both come from the Kings, with Murray and Harrison Barnes both checking in at 6.6 Pts/Sal. Murray has been a little more consistent and comes with a higher ceiling, so I prefer using him and Ellis in my builds as two salary savers instead of going even cheaper with Barnes.

Like Ellis, Murray has stepped up after the injuries to Monk and Huerter. Murray scored double-digit points in each of his last 19 games during the regular season, averaging 16.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He exploded for 32 points to go with nine rebounds against the Warriors on Tuesday, knocking down eight three-pointers and carrying the Kings into this matchup with the Pelicans.

Murray had 19 points and five boards against the Pelicans earlier this month, and he should be a great value again on Friday.
