NBA DFS Guard Picks

Luka Doncic ($10,600) vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Luka Doncic has the highest median, ceiling, and floor projection of all the players in action on Friday by a wide margin. His projections are around 20 points higher in each category than any other guard on the slate, so he’s worth trying to squeeze under your salary cap if you can. Despite his hefty salary, he has the second-highest Pts/Sal of all guards as well, showing he’s actually a good per-dollar value even though he’s so expensive.

Doncic played 42 and 45 minutes in the first two games of the series and averaged 32.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists with a 35.0% usage rate. He had a double-double in Game 1 but fell just short in Game 2. The Clippers’ defense has been keyed in on slowing him down, but he’s still finding ways to produce plenty of fantasy points.

Doncic’s 40.3% usage projection is by far the highest usage projection on Friday’s slate, and he should be fired up and ready to deliver a huge performance as the series shifts to Dallas. He averaged 34.2 points, 10.0 assists, and 9.1 rebounds per game in his 34 home games during the regular season. He got his team the win in Game 2 without a monster triple-double, but it feels like a signature game is brewing for Luka, and the Mavs can take control of the series with a win in Game 3.

Patrick Beverley ($4,000) at Indiana Pacers

The highest Pts/Sal of all guards belongs to Patrick Beverley, who is a great value at only $4,000. Beverley has stepped into an expanded role with Giannis Antetkounmpo (calf, doubtful) sidelined, and he has carried a big workload so far this series. Beverley isn’t anywhere near the focus of his team’s offense like Luka is, but he does chip in great non-scoring numbers and can help balance out Luka’s salary since he comes so cheap.

The veteran only had a single-digit usage rate in both games in this series but has still reached good fantasy value. He scored just five points in each game while playing over 34 minutes. In Game 1, he added eight assists, seven rebounds, and two steals for an elite value game. In Game 2, he only had three assists but did add two blocks and a steal and still ended up a good cheap option.

As long as he keeps getting 30+ minutes in the Bucks’ rotation, Beverley should find ways to produce enough non-scoring stats to be the top value guard available on this slate. While he doesn’t have to score much to be a good play at this price, he does bring the potential to get hot and have a ceiling game as well. He had three games with double-digit points in his final five games of the regular season, including a 20-point performance against Boston.

NBA DFS Forward/Center Picks

Pascal Siakam ($6,600) vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Pascal Siakam has the highest median, ceiling, and floor projection of all forwards/centers on Friday’s three-game slate, and he’s a great value since he only has the fourth-highest salary. His Pts/Sal is second on the entire slate and higher than both Luka’s and Beverley’s. His balance of high ceiling and low salary makes him the strongest play on Friday’s slate.

Siakam has been a great fit for the Pacers since joining the team at the Trade Deadline. He finished the regular season strong, averaging 20.4 points and 7.0 rebounds in 29.2 minutes over his last seven games, but he has taken his game to the next level in the first two games of the postseason. He played over 36 minutes in each game and posted huge double-doubles with at least 35 points, becoming the first player since Wilt Chamberlain to have back-to-back 35-point, 10-rebound games to begin the playoffs.

Siakam’s huge minutes and a team-high 32.8% usage rate give him both a high floor and a high ceiling. He typically fills in the stat sheet in other categories as well and should remain one of the best fantasy options in the playoffs for as long as he gets to keep taking on the Bucks front line without Giannis.

Myles Turner ($5,400) vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Siakam’s teammate, Myles Turner, is the only player on the entire slate with a higher Pts/Sal than Pascal. Turner is extremely affordable at just over $5,000 and has the highest Pts/Sal on the whole slate, making him a great option in OwnersBox’s Superflex format. In comparison with the other players around his salary, Turner brings a significantly higher ceiling projection than Jusuf Nurkic or Mike Conley, showing how valuable he can be in the Superflex or one of your forward/center slots.

Turner had a huge Game 2, scoring 22 points to go with seven boards and six assists in 34 minutes. His usage and minutes aren’t as high as Siakam’s, but he’s still a key part of the team’s offense. He has the third-highest usage rate on the team so far in this series behind Siakam and T.J. McConnell, who has been coming off the bench.

His volatility during the regular season seems to have turned the general public against him, so he has been coming at low ownership so far this postseason. Turner brings a very high ceiling with his ability to fill multiple categories on the stat sheet, and he has thrived in this matchup with Milwaukee all season. In his seven games against the Bucks in the regular season and playoffs, Turner has averaged 19.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. With Giannis out, both he and Siakam have a huge advantage in the matchup, so it’s worth considering stacking the Pacers’ bigs on Friday’s slate.
