MLB Trend of the Day: Non-Division Games with Great Weather and Ballpark Ratings

At FantasyLabs, we believe that we have the best daily fantasy sports tools and data available. We also realize that these tools anddata are only as beneficial as our ability to communicate their functionality and worth.

With this in mind, our Trend of the Day series features articles that walk subscribers each weekday through an important trend, created with our FREE Trends tool. Also, shortly after you create a trend, you will be able to see it under the “My Trends” column in our Player Models.

MLB Trend of the Day: Non-Division Games with Great Weather and Ballpark Ratings

A beautiful thing about FantasyLabs is that we have metrics that combine many factors into one score. We have the Vegas Rating, the Weather Rating, and Ballpark Factor. With the recent spike in temperature, I’ve noticed higher weather ratings, so I want to take a look at that metric in today’s trend.

For an unparalleled DFS edge, try our free Trends tool, through which you can access our massive database of advanced data and leverage our premium exclusive metrics, such as Bargain Rating, Upside, Consistency, and Plus/Minus.

Step 1: Weather Details > Weather > 75 to 100

Weather
This alone will give us a strong Plus/Minus at FanDuel, and I’m confident that we can do better.

Step 2: Team > Stadium > Coors Field, Citi Field, Wrigley Field, Miller Park, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and Fenway Park

Stadium
I know this will only apply to Coors field today, but I don’t want to make this a Coors Field specific trend. As you can now see, our Plus/Minus is up to +2.61 at FanDuel and it still has a large sample size. Also note that the Upside at Coors Field for this trend so far is 23 percent.

This step is a good reminder that Weather Rating isn’t made equal at all ballparks.

Step 3: Team > Division/Non-division > Non-division

Non-division
Here’s a filter often overlooked, but as we see there’s a full point on the Plus/Minus scale to be had when targeting batters in non-division games. To be honest, I didn’t think that we’d see this glaring difference between division and non-division games. I even thought that we might see the reverse, but I won’t argue with that sample size. This is why our Trends tool is so extremely valuable.

The Blue Jays-Rockies match our trend for today. With a Consistency of 52.4 percent, many of the players in that game will be viable options for cash games.
