At FantasyLabs, we believe that we have the best daily fantasy sports tools and data available. We also realize that these tools and data are only as beneficial as our ability to communicate their functionality and worth.
With this in mind, our Trend of the Day series features articles that walk subscribers each weekday through an important trend, created with our FREE Trends tool. Also, shortly after you create a trend, you will be able to see it under the “My Trends” column in our Player Models.
MLB Trend of the Day: Bargain Hitters in Great Hitting Conditions
Salary allocation is really important in DFS. Being able to spot undervalued hitters can provide a big boost to your bottom line and afford you the salary space to roster top pitchers. To that end, creating a trend that screens for bargain hitters in great conditions is worthwhile.
Step 1: Trends > Bargain Rating > 67 to 100
By selecting batters in the top third of Bargain Rating, we are targeting bargain hitters without creating a base sample that is too small.
Step 2: Vegas Filters > Favorite/Dog > Favorite
Teams that Vegas predicts to win tend to score more runs, which in turn results in more DFS value.
Step 3: Weather Details > Weather > 50 to 100
This filter is fairly intuitive. The better the weather, the likelier teams generally are to score runs.
Step 4: Trends > Park Factor > 50 to 100
Again, this filter is intuitive. The better a park suits a batter, the likelier he is to produce.
Results
Here are the results for DraftKings:
With a +1.42 Plus/Minus and 45.8-percent Consistency, this trend does a nice job of providing value.
And here are the results for FanDuel:
Again, the trend provides a fair amount of value.
Plus/Minus, Consistency, and other premium exclusive metrics are accessible via our free Ratings tool.
Current Matches
On DraftKings, only one batter likely to start matches the trend, Arizona shortstop Nick Ahmed, who is only $2,600 and matches six Pro Trends.
On FanDuel, seemingly all the right-handed batters in the Dodgers-Diamondbacks and Tigers-White Sox games match the trend. Most intriguing might be Arizona outfielder David Peralta, who is only $4,000 and matches 11 Pro Trends.
Good luck tonight!
