This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.
Houston Astros
Today one of the top four-man DraftKings stack in the Bales Player Model belongs to the Astros, who are implied for 5.4 runs — tied for the second-highest mark in the main slate (per our Vegas Dashboard):
George Springer, Marwin Gonzalez, Carlos Beltran, and Brian McCann all have at least five DraftKings Pro Trends and could benefit from the hitter-friendly forecast temperature of 87 degrees. They have a great matchup against Rangers right-handed pitcher Andrew Cashner, who ranks among the slate’s bottom-four pitchers in batted ball distance, exit velocity, and hard hit rate allowed over the past 12 months. Per our MLB Lineups page, Cashner will also have to deal with winds gusting out at 12 miles per hour.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Implied for a slate-low 3.6 runs against the Indians at Progressive Field, the Dodgers are the most contrarian of teams to target today. Nevertheless, they have the top four-man FanDuel ISO stack in the slate via their 3-4-5-8 hitters:
Justin Turner, Yasmani Grandal, and Joc Pederson all rank among the top-five players at their positions in ISO differential, and Cody Bellinger has a slate-high splits-adjusted .358 ISO over the past 12 months. The Dodgers matchup against righty Corey Kluber makes them a tournament-only play, but it’s worth noting that Kluber has allowed five-plus runs in three of his eight starts this season. He’s not infallible, and the Dodgers will likely have extremely low ownership, which Pro Subscribers can review via our DFS Ownership Dashboard after lineups lock.
Baltimore Orioles
With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. Today’s top three-man FanDuel stack in the CSURAM88 Model belongs to the Orioles and costs an affordable $9,000:
Seth Smith, Adam Jones, and Trey Mancini face White Sox righty Miguel Gonzalez, who has bottom-two marks in wOBA and ISO allowed over the past 15 days. Gonzalez also has struggled to limit big hits during that stretch, ranking among the slate’s bottom-four pitchers in average batted ball distance, exit velocity, and hard hit rate. Per our Trends tool, batters have outperformed against pitchers in comparable recent form with a +1.68 Plus/Minus and 44.7 percent Consistency Rating. The Orioles are second in the slate with a Team Value Rating of 85.
