MLB Pro Model Stacks: Thursday 6/29

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

New York Yankees

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. One of the top four-man FanDuel stacks in the Bales Model belongs to the Yankees:

The Yankees have the third-highest implied total on the slate with 5.7 runs (per our Vegas Dashboard). They are taking on White Sox righty James Shields, who has the slate’s third-worst WHIP at 1.543 and a slate-worst HR/9 at 2.424. His recent Statcast data is poor as well, as he is in the bottom five of average batted ball distance, exit velocity, and hard hit rate.

At this point, it doesn’t even matter who is on the mound: Aaron Judge is crushing the ball at all times. His 12-month Statcast data is ridiculous with an average batted ball distance of 247 feet, an exit velocity of 95 miles per hour, and a hard hit rate of 48 percent.

Note: The White Sox-Yankees game currently has a 43 percent chance of precipitation (per our Lineups Page). Monitor the weather throughout the day.

Boston Red Sox

The top five-man DraftKings stack in the CSURAM88 Model belongs to the Red Sox, who are implied for 5.9 runs, tied for the second-highest mark on the slate:

With the entire top of the Boston order, this stack may be chalky. Pro subscribers can review ownership rates after lineup lock via our DFS Ownership DashboardMookie Betts, Mitch Moreland, and Andrew Benintendi all have a recent batted ball distance between 220 and 240 feet. Against Twins righty Kyle Gibson, Benintendi has the most favorable splits among all Red Sox, leading the stack with his .109 wOBA and .184 ISO differentials.

Los Angeles Dodgers

On FanDuel, the top four-man ISO stack belongs to the Dodgers, who have an implied total of 4.8 runs:

Although the Dodgers are not implied to be a top-scoring team on the slate, they have a lot of upside against Angels righty J.C. Ramirez. Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger especially stand out. The two lead the stack with recent batted ball distances of 240-245 feet. Furthermore, Turner and Bellinger have .424 and .406 wOBAs against right-handed pitchers over the last year, again leading the stack. Additionally, Joc Pederson has wOBA and ISO differentials of .173 and .186. Per our Trends tool, Pederson’s hitting splits have been evident in his fantasy performance: Over the last two seasons he has a +1.45 Plus/Minus against right-handed pitching but a -1.61 Plus/Minus against lefties.
