MLB Pro Model Stacks: Thursday 6/15

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Detroit Tigers

The top four-man FanDuel stack in the Bales Player Model belongs to the Tigers, who are implied for 5.1 runs — the third-highest mark on the main slate (per our Vegas Dashboard):

The recent Statcast data for the players in this stack show that they are mashing the ball, especially Ian Kinsler with his batted ball distance of 256 feet. Alex Avila has wOBA and ISO differentials of .100 and .167, the largest marks in the stack. With a staggering 11 home runs in 29 games this season, it is no surprise to see J.D. Martinez crushing his recent Statcast data. Over the last 15 days, his batted ball distance of 250 feet, exit velocity of 98 miles per hour, and hard hit rate of 63 percent are all top-five marks on the main slate.

Note: The Rays-Tigers game currently has a 40 percent chance of heavy rain (per our Lineups page). Be sure to monitor the weather as lineup lock approaches.

Colorado Rockies

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. One of the top five-man DraftKings stacks in the CSUMRAM88 Model belongs to the Rockies:

With a game in Coors Field, it is no surprise to see the Rockies with a slate-high implied run total of 6.2. Batters at Coors have historically had a +1.23 Plus/Minus, the highest mark among all ballparks (per our Trends tool). Coors leads the slate with a pristine Park Rating of 100.

Leading the stack with nine Pro Trends, Nolan Arenado has impressive Statcast data with a recent batted ball distance of 241 feet and fly ball rate of 43 percent. Historically, Coors batters comparable to Arenado in lineup spot, Pro Trends, and Statcast data have averaged a +2.71 Plus/Minus with a 50 percent Consistency Rating.

While the Rockies will likely be chalky, this stack with two batters in the bottom third of the order should have reduced ownership, which Pro subscribers can review after lineup lock via our DFS Ownership Dashboard.

New York Mets

The top four-man ISO stack on FanDuel belongs to the Mets, who are near the bottom of the slate with an implied run total of 4.3:

Two hitters stand out in this stack: Wilmer Flores and Yeonis Cespedes. With incredible ISO differentials of .238 and .129, Flores and Cespedes are expected to hit second and third. Although the Mets aren’t implied for many runs — they’re facing Nationals left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez, who has a 2.91 ERA this season and is in good recent form with a slate-low batted ball distance of 176 feet and fly ball rate of 10 percent — the Mets have some upside at what’s likely to be low ownership. Flores, Cespedes, and Lucas Duda in particular have hit lefties well over the last three years, averaging a +1.67 Plus/Minus.
