MLB Pro Model Stacks: Thursday 5/25

This series uses the FantasyLabs Tools to analyze MLB stacks in the day’s slate. The series does not provide play or fade recommendations. It provides analysis.

Detroit Tigers

With the Lineup Builder, it’s easy to incorporate stacks into DFS rosters. The top five-man DraftKings stack in the Bales Model belongs to the Tigers, who are in a three-way tie with a slate-best 72 Team Value Rating (per the Vegas Dashboard):

Four of the five stacked batters have recent fly ball rates of at least 45 percent, as does Astros starter Mike Fiers, who has surrendered at least one home run in six straight starts and ranks last in the main slate with his year-long 1.977 HR/9 rate. The Tigers-Astros game features a slate-best 74 Weather Rating: With two of the slate’s five games forecast with at least a 50 percent chance of precipitation, the retractable roof at Minute Maid Park is attractive.

Arizona Diamondbacks

The top four-man FanDuel stack in the CSURAM88 Model belongs to the Diamondbacks:

All four hitters have a Bargain Rating of at least 70 percent. If we wanted to be a little more contrarian, we could remove David Peralta and use Yasmany Tomas (day-to-day with a hip issue), yielding the top four-man Pro Trends stack. Jake Lamb has a slate-best recent batted ball distance of 272 feet and a +10.22 FanDuel Plus/Minus over the last 10 games, with six home runs (and only six strikeouts) in that span. Lamb will likely have a high ownership rate, which Pro subscribers can review after lineup lock via our DFS Ownership Dashboard. Although Brewers starter Zach Davies has limited opponents to a recent batted ball distance of 187 feet, he’s allowed at least one home run in seven of his last eight starts and now faces a team with a league-best 0.356 wOBA and second-best 0.209 ISO against right-handed pitchers this season.

Milwaukee Brewers

The top four-man ISO stack belongs to the Brewers:

All four hitters are on the right side of their hitting splits and have FanDuel Bargain Ratings of at least 63 percent. Jonathan Villar and Keon Broxton lead the slate in SB/G rate, and Eric Thames leads all hitters with a 0.829 slugging percentage and 0.600 ISO against left-handed pitchers. The four stacked batters have cumulatively averaged a +4.22 FanDuel Plus/Minus with a 50.7 percent Consistency Rating against left-handed pitchers since last season, and Broxton has had a low average ownership at 2.9 percent (per our Trends tool). During the same time, the Brewers have led all teams with a +2.1 FanDuel Plus/Minus, 44 percent Consistency Rating, and 21 percent Upside Rating against lefties.

Good luck, and be sure to read Bryan Mears’ MLB Breakdown!
