The FantasyLabs MLB Player Models have numerous data points to help you construct your MLB DFS rosters.
They house our floor, median and ceiling projections for each player, but that’s just the beginning of what you’ll find inside. You’ll also find our Trends tool, stacking tool, and more.
Also, don’t forget that for large-field tournaments, you can utilize our Lineup Optimizer to effortlessly create up to 150 lineups, or use our Lineup Builder if you like to hand-build your teams for cash games or small-field tournaments.
Let’s dive into some MLB plays that stand out in our Player Models for today’s main slate.
Bargain Rating Picks
You might be asking: what is Bargain Rating, and why should I care?
Bargain Rating shows how much of a bargain a player is on one DFS site versus others. If a player is significantly cheaper on one site than the other, they will have a favorable Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more affordable and a poor Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more expensive. It’s a straightforward metric, but targeting players at reduced price tags is almost always a strong strategy in DFS.
Bargain Rating strongly correlates with player value, which you can quickly see with our predictive projected Plus/Minus metric.
Seeing how Plus/Minus helps you project how many points a player is expected to score compared to what their salary implies them to score, this is a good company for Bargain Rating.
MLB DFS DraftKings Bargain
Leody Taveras ($2,500): Outfielder, Texas Rangers
Despite his salary increasing, Taveras remains one of the best bargain plays on DraftKings.
In 31 games, Taveras is batting .344 with 17 RBI. He may not crush the ball out of the park often, but that makes his +9.49 Plus/Minus rating over the last 10 games even more impressive.
With seven multi-hit results in his last 11 games, Taveras is a great bargain option tonight against A’s left-hander Cole Irvin.
MLB DFS FanDuel Bargain
Josh Donaldson ($2,600): Third Baseman, New York Yankees
Donaldson has struggled lately at the plate but has shown high-upside potential in a Yankees lineup that produces the most runs in baseball.
Donaldson had an incredible three-game stretch (July 6-8) where he averaged 32.83 FanDuel points. He put up three homers and nine RBI in that span.
Since then, he has not made it to double-digit points in the last eight games. He is a high-risk option, but Donaldson could be a tremendous low-budget lottery ticket for tournament lineups tonight.
MLB DFS Ceiling Projection Picks
Pitcher
Corbin Burnes ($10,200 DraftKings, $11,300 FanDuel) vs. Colorado Rockies
Burnes has a crazy +7.08 Plus/Minus rating on the season and is arguably off to a better start in 2022 than last season’s Cy Young award-winning run.
So far in 2022, Burnes is 7-4 with a 2.14 ERA in 18 starts. He leads the National League with 144 strikeouts and an 11.9 K/9. He has scored at least 21 DraftKings points in six straight starts, with three high-ceiling performances over 30 points in that span.
Tonight, Burnes faces a Rockies lineup that leads the majors in batting but will be without their Coors Field boost. Stay in the flames tonight by adding Burnes as your stud hurler in lineups.
Hitter
Aaron Judge ($6,200 DraftKings, $4,600 FanDuel) at Baltimore Orioles
We know Judge has incredible power and the potential to win any fantasy matchup but is he worth the price tag?
A hit-or-miss proposal, Judge has tested his ceiling with six 20+ DraftKings point performances in the last month, including 37 and 35-point games. In that same span, he also has seven goose eggs.
MLB’s home run leader is well protected in the Yankees lineup tonight against Orioles’ right-hander Tyler Wells. Wells is 7-5 with a 3.38 ERA on the year and has given up two earned runs in five innings of work in both starts against the Yankees this season.
Judge is undoubtedly worth the price tag when he hits his ceiling. The question is, do you feel lucky?
Top Stacking Pick from THE BAT X
One of the great features of being a FantasyLabs Pro member is the option to purchase additional items in the FantasyLabs Marketplace.
A new addition to our MLB projections is THE BAT from Derek Carty of RotoGrinders. With this purchase, you can use his projections alone or create aggregate projections within our Player Models.
The top five-man DraftKings stack from THE BAT using projected points in our stacking tool belongs to the Blue Jays. When you load them into our Lineup Builder, you’ll have the option to hand-build the rest of your team or optimize the rest of it.
Note: There is precipitation projected in the forecast for this game. Be sure to monitor the status of this game leading up to lock.
The Blue Jays may not have the highest implied run total on the slate, but their potent lineup should still produce strong results against Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi. The right-hander is 4-2 with a 3.34 ERA in 13 starts this season.
Bo Bichette leads the stack in salary despite a lackluster first half of the season. Bichette is batting .257 on the year with 14 home runs. He is a career .289 hitter and has the potential to rebound in the second half of the season.
With a +0.63 Plus/Minus over the last month, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. may be beginning to find his 2021 form where he led the American League in home runs, runs scored, and OPS. July has been his best month of 2022 so far, with a .304 batting average.
Coming off his fourth All-Star appearance, George Springer has seen a dip in his salary from its July 6 high of $5,900. He may now be in value territory with his hard-hitting potential.
The stack rounds out with catcher Alejandro Kirk and outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. Kirk is a consistent floor play with a +0.24 Plus/Minus over the last month, while Hernandez is the hottest Blue Jays hitter with three 20+ DraftKings point performances since July 8.
