Bargain Rating Picks

You might be asking: what is Bargain Rating, and why should I care?

Bargain Rating shows how much of a bargain a player is on one DFS site versus others. If a player is significantly cheaper on one site than the other, they will have a favorable Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more affordable and a poor Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more expensive. It’s a straightforward metric, but targeting players at reduced price tags is almost always a strong strategy in DFS.

Bargain Rating strongly correlates with player value, which you can quickly see with our predictive projected Plus/Minus metric.

Seeing how Plus/Minus helps you project how many points a player is expected to score compared to what their salary implies them to score, this is a good company for Bargain Rating.

MLB DFS DraftKings Bargain

Odubel Herrera ($2,600): Outfielder, Philadelphia Phillies

At 30 years old, Herrera has been a part-time player so far this year for the Phillies. When he has made the lineup, he’s impressed with a .389 wOBA and 54.5 hard-hit %.

Herrera has had four 13+ DraftKings point performances since April 23. That’s more than Shohei Ohtani, the highest-priced outfielder on the slate.

Make sure to double-check the starting lineup before games begin, but Herrera is a sneaky bargain play if he gets the nod.

MLB DFS FanDuel Bargain

Salvador Perez ($2,900): Catcher, Kansas City Royals

With his salary at its lowest point of the season, Perez has struggled over his last 10 games with a -4.26 Plus/Minus rating.

Perez is in the bottom 8% of the league in both xBA and BB%, according to Baseball Savant.

However, he did post four hits over the doubleheader yesterday in Baltimore and gets a plus matchup against Orioles right-hander Tyler Wells tonight. Wells is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in his second big league season.

Perez could be a cheaper catching option today for lineups with some upside.

MLB DFS Ceiling Projection Picks

Pitcher

Noah Syndergaard ($7,900 DraftKings, $9,000 FanDuel) vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Despite a $1,200 DraftKings salary drop since his last start, Syndergaard has the highest projected Plus/Minus and highest ceiling on the slate.

This season, Syndergaard is 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA in four starts. He has posted consistent double-digit DraftKings performances in each outing, but his low strikeout numbers have kept his ceiling capped. If he can return to his 26% career strikeout rate, he has a ton of upside at this price.

He faces a Tampa Bay team tonight that is eighth in the league in strikeouts at the plate. Look for Syndergaard to provide significant returns.

Hitter

Tim Anderson ($5,300 DraftKings, $3,600 FanDuel) vs. Cleveland Guardians

Anderson has been one of the most consistent hitters in baseball over recent years, batting over .300 each year since 2019. Though his power numbers have never been extraordinary, he has posted strong numbers so far in 2022.

The White Sox shortstop is in the top 5% of hitters in xwOBA and xSLG, according to Baseball Savant. He has cut his career strikeout rate in half this season with a tiny 10.4 K%.

Anderson has eight positive Plus/Minus games in his last 12 outings. He is a solid lineup option against Cleveland’s Zach Plesac, who is 1-3 so far this season.

A new addition to our MLB projections is THE BAT from Derek Carty of RotoGrinders. With this purchase, you can use his projections alone or create aggregate projections within our Player Models.

The top five-man DraftKings stack from THE BAT using projected points in our stacking tool comes from the Seattle Mariners. When you load them into our Lineup Builder, you’ll have the option to hand-build the rest of your team or optimize the rest of it.

The Dodgers have the highest implied run total on the slate tonight in Pittsburgh.

Freddie Freeman continues to impress in his first Dodgers campaign. He is batting .323 on the season and has double-digit DraftKings points in half of his games in 2022.

After a slow start, Mookie Betts has seen his DraftKings salary rise by $1,000 since April 26. He has three homers in his last seven games and a 44.6% hard-hit rate on the season.

Trea Turner sits atop the salary chart at shortstop. He has not topped 12 DraftKings points in his last 16 games but does have a high floor. If you are considering a four-player stack, Turner may be the one to scratch.

Chris Taylor and Max Muncy fill out the five-player stack. Taylor needs to cut down on the strikeouts, but he has a strong 46.9 sweet spot percentage. Muncy is hitting just .138 on the year but has three 20+ point DraftKings performances this season.

The Dodgers will face a veteran left-hander in Pittsburgh’s Jose Quintana. Despite his 0-1 record, Quintana has been solid this season with a 3.38 ERA and .288 wOBA. His longest outing has been 5.1 innings this year, and the Dodgers will look to get into the bullpen early as the Pirates hold the third-worst team ERA in the league.
