Let’s dive into some MLB plays that stand out in our Player Models for today’s slate.
Bargain Rating Picks
You might be asking: what is Bargain Rating, and why should I care?
Bargain Rating shows how much of a bargain a player is on one DFS site versus others. If a player is significantly cheaper on one site than the other, they will have a favorable Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more affordable and a poor Bargain Rating on the site where they’re more expensive. It’s a straightforward metric, but targeting players at reduced price tags is almost always a strong strategy in DFS.
Bargain Rating strongly correlates with player value, which you can quickly see with our predictive projected Plus/Minus metric.
Seeing how Plus/Minus helps you project how many points a player is expected to score compared to what their salary implies them to score, this is a good company for Bargain Rating.

Tyler Soderstrom ($2,300): First Baseman, Oakland Athletics
The 22-year-old first baseman is on a hot streak at the plate for the Athletics. A career .184 hitter, Tyler Soderstrom has a +4.18 average Plus/Minus over his last 10 games, with three home runs in his last four games.
Soderstrom is batting .225/.345/.437 in 28 games this season with four total home runs and 11 RBI. In June, he has posted a .296/.406/.630 hitting line. At the bottom end of the salary chart, Soderstrom is worth a look at a lottery ticket option.
The Athletics face right-hander Simeon Woods-Richardson at 201 with a 2.84 ERA in 10 starts.

MLB DFS Ceiling Projection Picks
Pitcher
Chris Sale ($10,500) vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Off to one of the best starts of his career, Chris Sale is 8-2 with a 3.01 ERA in his first season with the Braves. The lefty sits fifth in the National League with 92 strikeouts and third with a 0.94 WHIP.
Sale tops both the salary chart and ceiling projections on the main slate. He has come through for fantasy owners with at least 27 DraftKings points in seven of his last eight starts.
Using PlateIQ, the projected Rays lineup has a .145 ISO and .288 wOBA against left-handed pitching this season. Sale has a strong 31.1 K% and 29.5% whiff rate to take advantage of the Rays’ elevated strikeout potential.
Hitter
Shohei Ohtani ($6,500) vs. Kansas City Royals
Superstar Shohei Ohtani tops the ceiling projections on the main slate, as he often does, after blasting two home runs over his last three games. Ohtani continues to pace the league with a .306/.377/.578 batting line, including 17 home runs and 44 RBI.
Ohtani lifts his fantasy ceiling through offensive versatility. On top of his power at the plate, he adds value on the base paths with 15 stolen bases and 51 runs scored on the season. He has an incredible 60.2 hard hit % and a .441 xwOBA.
The Dodgers will face lefty Cole Ragans for the Royals. Ragans is 4-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 1.15 WHIP on the season.

The model likes Freddy Peralta‘s strikeout potential tonight against the Reds. The Brewers righty has a 31.6 K% this season to go with his 4-3 record and 3.95 ERA.
Peralta has been a strikeout machine at home this season, with 40 punch-outs in 27.2 innings. He is 2-0 with a 3.90 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in five home starts.
The projected Reds lineup has a 25.8 K% against right-handers and strikingly low run and hit projections. Peralta is a solid start despite coming off a couple of weak performances thus far in June.

MLB DFS Hitters
Ketel Marte ($5,000) vs. Chicago White Sox
The Arizona Diamondbacks boast one of the highest implied run totals on the slate against Chris Flexen and the Chicago White Sox. Second baseman Ketel Marte is on a hot streak and in prime position in the two-hole to take advantage of the matchup.
Marte is batting .282/.349/.511 on the season with 14 home runs and 37 RBI. He has a +3.14 average Plus/Minus over his last 10 games with six-straight double-digit DraftKings results. He showed his ceiling potential on June 2 with two home runs, three RBI, and 39 DraftKings points.
Flexen has struggled this season to a 2-5 record and 5.06 ERA. He has allowed the fourth-most hits in the American League this season.
Joc Pederson ($4,400) vs. Chicago White Sox
Joc Pederson is another strong Diamondbacks lineup option tonight at a slightly lower price point. He is coming off one of the best games of his season yesterday with a home run and five RBI against the Angels.
Having a resurgent season, Pederson is batting .286/.384/.503 with eight home runs and 28 RBI. He has struggled overall in June with a .194/.286/.323 line and the lone home run coming yesterday.
The matchup with Flexen and the White Sox is juicy. Expect a lot of stacks featuring Pederson and Marte today.
