Barstool has a similar offer to BetMGM, offering new users a $1,000 first bet on the house. That means if your first bet loses you’ll be refunded in bonus bets, equal to whatever you lost.
Barstool’s bonus cash does work differently than bonus bets at most sportsbooks, though. You’ll get the stake back, as well as any profits. So if you put $50 bonus cash on the Red Sox at +110, you’ll profit $55 and keep the $50. Most books don’t let you keep the $50.
