Other than a stout Connecticut Huskies squad, defense has been in short supply over the last few rounds. High-scoring games have yielded some exceptional fantasy performances, a trend we expect to continue Sunday.

March Madness CBB Guard Picks
Top Play: Marcus Carr ($7,500)
Unlike Saturday’s slate, no standout guard towers above the rest. Instead, several elite playmakers will have to distinguish themselves from the also-rans. Based on our projections, Marcus Carr has the best chance of ending the night as the top performer.
Carr has been the undisputed leader of the Texas Longhorns this year. The Canadian leads the team in scoring, assists, and steals while adding a respectable 3.0 rebounds per game. Still, Carr has reserved his best efforts for when the pressure is the highest.
The senior guard has recorded 17 or more points in three of his last four outings, culminating with a 32.0 fantasy-point outing last time out against the Xavier Musketeers. Further, he’s been making it rain from distance, going 7-for-15 from beyond the arc in tournament play.
The Longhorns rely on Carr to drive their offense, and he should have an opportunity to put up points against the defensively bankrupt Miami Hurricanes.
Top Value: Wooga Poplar ($5,200)
Wooga Poplar has been a reliable, if not undervalued, fantasy contributor for the past few weeks. The Hurricanes guard has put up above-average fantasy points in three of his previous four games, a trend we like to continue against the Longhorns.
Poplar has been a consistent scorer for Miami, sitting in the team’s top five in scoring with 8.5 points per game on the season. More impressively, the sophomore guard has hit double-digits in all but one of his last four, elevating his fantasy contributions.
Across the modest four-game sample, Poplar is averaging 18.8 fantasy points per game, above his season-long average of 17.1. Moreover, he’s taking more shots from the field, recording at least 10 shot attempts in two of his last three. Factoring in his reliable presence on the glass and an occasional block or steal, Poplar has the tools to be a difference-maker when called upon.
Starting guards shouldn’t be this cheap, let alone someone with as much upside as Poplar. He is among the FantasyLabs leaders in Points/Salary and is worth including on your roster in any format.

March Madness CBB Forward Picks
Top Play: Norchad Omier ($7,700)
The Hurricanes love doesn’t end there, as forward Norchad Omier projects as the top-rated forward on Sunday’s slate. Omier plays a complete game on both ends of the court, and Texas doesn’t have anyone who can hang with him on the glass.
Across the entire campaign, Omier averaged a double-double with 13.3 points and 10.1 rebounds. Those metrics have been even more pronounced lately, with the big man recording a double-double in four of his last six games.
Impressive, yes, but Omier has room to grow with his scoring output. The sophomore has decreased shot volume over his recent outings, attempting more than nine shots just once over his previous five contests. He was more of a factor in the Sweet Sixteen, knocking down 5-of-10 from the field, and that upward trend should continue against the Longhorns.
Texas struggles to contain forwards, with five bigs hitting double digits in scoring over their past four games. Omier will add to those woes, and he could have a tournament-best performance loading in the Elite Eight finale.
Top Value: Athur Kaluma ($6,500)
Arthur Kaluma has been a mainstay in the Creighton Bluejays frontcourt this season. The Arizona native ranks fifth in scoring and third in rebounding, but he still comes in at an undervalued $6,500 on Sunday’s slate. That value isn’t worth passing up as Creighton looks to punch its ticket to the Final Four.
Kaluma’s salary continues to decrease despite consistent usage and volume. Although he’s seen a negligible drop in scoring, Kaluma has offset that with improved assist and block stats. Moreover, he’s taking more high-probability shots, going 7-for-12 over the previous two rounds for a 58.3% shooting percentage.
Kaluma is on track with his fantasy output, maintaining steady production throughout the tournament. Texas’ frontcourt can be an imposing presence, but we’ve seen the Creighton big man thrive against formidable defenses in the past. The diminished salary makes Kaluma a top value play against Texas.
March Madness CBB Flag Plant
Darrion Trammell ($5,700)
The San Diego State Aztecs are the epitome of team effort. Only one player averages double digits in scoring, with seven other players recording between 9.8 and 6.1 points per game. That means that a different player could step up in any matchup. On Sunday, we like Darrion Trammell to be that guy.
Trammell is coming off one of his best efforts of the campaign. The senior went off for 21 points and five rebounds against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide for a noteworthy 32.3 fantasy points. Still, that’s far from the best we’ve seen from Trammell this year, and he could fly even higher against the Bluejays.
Creighton has been torched by guards in every matchup this tournament. A starter has gone off for at least 26 points in each round, setting the stage for a season-best effort from Trammell.
Seniors tend to take over in tournament time, and Trammell plays a solid two-way game. Even if he doesn’t lead the Aztecs to another upset win, he should at least put forth an elite effort.
