Fantasy Football Rankings — Whose Stock is Up?

Before we get to the rest of our rankings, let’s look at some general fantasy football notes from the last couple of weeks.

QB Stock Up: Sam Darnold

  • It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why Sam Darnold is climbing in our fantasy QB rankings. JJ McCarthy suffered a meniscus injury, forcing him to redshirt his rookie season. As a result, Darnold is cemented into the starting role with healthy job security.
  •  “Darnold might not be as good as Cousins, but he’s not that far off and he does have solid weapons. He could be a guy you target in two QB Superflex or the best ball leagues right around that QB25 range I think you saw there, just given this offense. Plus he does have some sneaky rushing upside. Back in 2022, he had 19 or more rushing yards in four of his six starts. So he’s a guy that people are probably overlooking going into the season. But now with McCarthy injured, I think he’s sneaky once you get outside the top 25 there at quarterback.Sean Koerner

RB Stock Up: Chubba Hubbard

  • It’s looking more and more likely that Jonathan Brooks will miss the first few weeks of the season as he’s still coming back from an ACL tear he suffered late last season. Once he’s available, the Panthers will probably ease him in. On top of that, there are rumors that Miles Sanders might be on the move. Put all of this together, and it really makes Chubba Hubbard an excellent zero rb target.
  • Hubbard might start the first four to five games of the season. If Brooks ends up landing on the pup list, even when he does return, he might not be 100% and the Panthers might just limit him as rookie. So Hubbard is going to offer early season value…Hubbard could end up being a top 30 back this year, and you can still get them right on RB 40. – Chris Raybon

WR Stock Up: Brandin Cooks

  • Look, we haven’t hit the panic button on CeeDee Lamb yet, as you can no. 2 overall fantasy football ranking, but there’s still plenty of reason to be bullish on his teammate Brandin Cooks. Cooks has been operating as the WR1 in practice without Lamb, and the Cowboys will likely lean heavily on their passing game this year regardless. In the off-chance Lamb’s hold out does extend into the regular season, Cooks is a steal at his current ADP.
  • The possibility of a bounce-back season at age 31 seemed lower but just based on his performance at camp, it does seem possible. So I’m cautiously optimistic he could return to a WR3 flex option this year, especially in this offense. But, you know, I don’t know what’s up with CD Lamb. This could be all resolved today, who knows? But if this spills in the season Cooks will be the top receiver in this offense. So he could have some really elevated early season value…He’s a guy that I’ve been eyeing later on. I think right now he’s worth a flyer there at WR57. Just based on how well he’s been doing in camp and the small possibility that lamb’s holdout actually, you know, spills into the season. Chris Raybon
