The NBA Playoffs have officially commenced, and this Wednesday features two quality matchups. The matchup I want to focus on here is the Heat-Celtics matchup. The Heat notably eliminated the Celtics in the 2023 playoffs, but this time, they are without superstar Jimmy Butler.

Jayson Tatum is the Celtics’ primary scorer, who averaged 26.9 points in the regular season this year. Though he only put up 23 points in Game 1, I believe he will do better as a scorer in Game 2. Tatum averaged 19.3 field goal attempts per game in the regular season, so the volume for him to surpass 25 points will certainly be there.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. often gets an increased scoring role when Jimmy Butler is out of the lineup. Jaquez Jr. put up 15.4 points in 22 games without Butler this season, and he should get plenty of opportunities against the Celtics. If you look at Jaime Jaquez Jr’s three games in the play-in tournament and the playoffs, he has not gotten lower than 15 points without Butler. I think that this will continue here.
