Mavericks-Timberwolves Pick

The Dallas Mavericks have the opportunity to clinch a trip to the NBA Finals tonight, but they’ll have to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves one more time to do so.

Minnesota is favored by 4.5 points on FanDuel and DraftKings and that seems like a reasonable spread. However, I think Dallas shoots better than it did in Game 4 and at least covers tonight in Minneapolis.

Luka Doncic shot 7-for-21 and Kyrie Irving finished 6-18 from the floor in the Mavericks’ Game 4 loss. I just don’t see those two shooting *that* badly again, and I think their natural regression will help Dallas keep this game close at the end. Plus, there’s a decent chance Dereck Lively II plays tonight after participating in the Mavericks shootaround earlier today, and his presence would bolster the Dallas frontcourt.

It also seems unlikely that the Timberwolves shoot as well as they did on Tuesday in Game 4. They shot 45.8% from long range and still had to grind out a win, so that margin of error could come back to bite them tonight.
