Sometimes, the best way to make a profit is to find two games you like and parlay them into one bet.

For tonight, that’s the case. The first game I want to look at is the night cap between the Twins and the Mariners. The second game is another American League showdown between the Rangers and the Rays.

Twins-Mariners

The Minnesota Twins are one of the more interesting teams in the MLB this season.

They’re not often thought of as a contender to do their hellaciously inconsistent offense (24th in batting average and first in strikeouts — by a wide margin). However, their solid pitching staff has them staying afloat. And given the nature of their division (the lowly AL Central), the Twins are looking like a playoff team. But, with Cleveland on their heels, they need to keep finding ways to win.

Tonight is a perfect opportunity for that.

Minnesota has ace pitcher Sonny Gray slated to be on the hill in Seattle while the Mariners have young up-and-comer Logan Gilbert. Don’t get it twisted, Gilbert is nasty in his own right, boasting a 3.66 ERA and 106 Ks on the season, but Gray is on a different planet. He has a 2.89 ERA and is the type of arm you can back confidently.

Pick 1: Twins ML at +120

Rangers-Rays

This very well could end up being a preview of the American League Championship Series (ALCS). The Rays have been the top dogs in the AL all season long, and the Rangers have just as much, if not more talent.

On the surface, this might look like a game to pick Tampa. They have Shane McClanahan on the mound (2.54 ERA), but in his last two games, he’s fallen off a bit, allowing six earned runs in 6.2 innings.

The Rangers have Dane Dunning on the mound, and while he may not be a household name, he’s pitching like a Cy Young candidate this season. He currently has a 2.84 ERA and it looks like it’s on its way down.
