Studs

These Thursday Night Football games can occasionally be lacking, but this one has some promise. The Chargers and Chiefs are two of the best offensive football teams in the league, so this game has the potential for fireworks. The total currently sits at 53.0 points, while the Chiefs are listed as three-point favorites. That gives them a slight edge in implied team total.

Patrick Mahomes is the most expensive option on this slate, but he has not been the same fantasy quarterback of late. The Chiefs have leaned more on their defense, so Mahomes hasn’t needed to put up gaudy numbers. He’s scored 20.32 DraftKings points or fewer in six of his past seven games, and he’s posted a negative Plus/Minus in five of them.

Still, Mahomes’ ceiling is undeniable. If this game turns into a shootout, there’s no doubt that Mahomes can keep up. The Chargers’ defense has been significantly better against the pass than the run, but Mahomes still owns the best Opponent Plus/Minus on the slate. He leads all players in terms of median and ceiling projection in our NFL Models.
