In our weekly report on the $25 Sunday Massive Double Up on DraftKings, it wasn’t surprising to see that nearly two-thirds of lineups with Antonio Brown finished in the money. But if you had one of the 7,069 entries with Demaryius Thomas in it, you likely were shot down. Thomas, and his $750-per-point salary, ruined 4 out of 5 lineups this week, and only 34% of lineups with both Brown and Thomas cashed.
As we were heading into last night’s Bears-Chargers game, I noticed that a little over 95% of the 40,727 entries in this contest still had players remaining. That’s an astonishing number. In fact, five of the top 12 most utilized players were from the Monday night game – Stevie Johnson, Alshon Jeffery, Jeremy Langford, Philip Rivers, and Antonio Gates. All five had ownership percentages north of 20%. Of these, Langford was clearly the best option on a dollar-per-point basis and he helped almost 60% of those using him cash.
Rounding out the players with ownership percentages over 10%, those that helped their owners cash the most were Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and Michael Crabtree. The list of all players with 10% or more ownership in this contest is here:
In looking at the next tier of ownership – those utilized in 2-10% of lineups – the two names that stand out the most are Delanie Walker and Derek Carr. Both players put up over 30 points and helped nearly three quarters of their lineups cash. Carr has become, at minimum, a must-consider candidate in both cash and GPPs every week. He will be price and matchup-dependent, but he’s shown a lot in the last two weeks against some pretty tough defenses. He was the fourth-most utilized QB of the week and paid off his price handsomely. Interestingly, both Carr and Walker had ownership near 10%, but the combination of both was only used in 0.5% of lineups. Of the 214 lineups with both Carr and Walker, 188 cashed.
On the flipside of this list, Martavis Bryant, Julian Edelman, and Stefon Diggs really hurt their owners. If you used any of them, chances are you didn’t cash.
Here’s the table of ownership rates between 2-10%:
