This afternoon’s slate brings us two matches as part of CLUTCH Season 2. Both matches will be held in the best-of-two format, which is an interesting wrinkle given DraftKings’ new scoring format.
While the Match Sweep Bonus — awarded when a team wins a match 2-0 — remains intact, the effect of the Rounds Not Played bonus will be muted with a maximum of two, rather than three sets. In other words, while a team would be awarded third-round points for completing a 2-0 sweep in a best-of-three format, this is not an option in a best-of-two series.
CS:GO Notes for Monday, April 20
- RED Canids are listed as overwhelming favorites against Bravos, which pushes fnx, nak, nython, latto and DeStiNy atop the projections. As a result, stacking RED Canids will be the obvious play on today’s slate. While it will be tough to get away from it in cash games, in tournaments, we’ll need to calibrate RED’s median projections against what will almost certainly be heavy ownership levels, along with the diminished Rounds Not Played bonus that will be based on two sets instead of three.
- W7M is the other favorite on today’s board as it currently checks in at -125 on the moneyline ahead of its matchup against Isurus. Raafa is projected to lead W7M in scoring, but he is priced accordingly at $9,400. Skullz is the next most expensive member of W7M at $8,400, though ableJ is currently projected to outscore skullz at a fraction of the cost ($5,400). Although skullz’s share of team kills is a half-point higher than ableJ’s, skullz is hurt by his 21.4% share of team deaths, which is second worst on the slate. ableJ also out-projects skullz in the bonus categories, including opening kill rate and clutch rate.
- It’s going to be difficult to veer away from the two favored teams on today’s slate, but if you’re looking to do so, reversive of Isurus looks like the best option due to his above average market share numbers (21.7% share of team kills, 18.7% share of team deaths).
