Raybon’s Cowboys-Giants Monday Night Football DFS Breakdown

Here’s a breakdown of one-game DFS contests for the Week 9 Monday Night Football matchup featuring the Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Cash Game Strategy

Currently sporting top-eight quarterback numbers on the season and the top projected floor in our DraftKings Showdown Models despite the third-highest price tag, Dak Prescott is the optimal cash-game Captain. The salary you save by rolling with Dak over either Ezekiel Elliott or Saquon Barkley enables you to squeeze both stud backs in along with Daniel Jones and two punt plays.

There are a variety of punt options for the last two spots projected relatively equally, but my preference is pairing Cody Latimer and Bennie Fowler, who have essentially been splitting the No. 3 wide receiver role with Sterling Shepard (concussion out). Together, they’ve combined for 19% of the air yards of the last three games with Shepard out, and by pairing them, you give yourself a better chance of getting a low-cost player who pops than taking stabs at guys like Rhett Ellison and Blake Jarwin, or Giants DST, which posted a negative fantasy score in the first meeting between these two teams back in Week 1.

On FanDuel, pricing dictates that you have to fade one of Prescott, Jones, Elliott or Barkley. Given that a Prescott-Elliott-Barkley core leaves enough salary to fit a top-three Giants pass catcher of your choosing, fading Jones looks like the best bet.

From a median projection standpoint, the optimal combo for the last two slots is Darius SlaytonJason Witten, which is tenths of a point ahead of Golden Tate-Jarwin, Evan Engram-Latimer and Engram-Fowler. I’d lean going with the optimal combo, but being that we’re fading Jones, mixing in the latter two to get an extra Giants pass catcher in also makes sense.
