Update: Middle Tennessee State at Georgia has been moved up to 12 pm ET due to Hurricane Florence but is still listed in DraftKings’ 7:00 pm ET night slate.

Game of the Slate: Ohio State (-12.5) vs. TCU

When Ohio State and TCU meet in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday night, there will be an epic clash of offensive styles. For the Buckeyes, their strength is their physical inside zone running attack, spearheaded by J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber. Ohio State also features sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who has already thrown nine touchdowns through two games.

TCU counters the Buckeyes’ physicality with elite speed and playmakers. QB Shawn Robinson leads the Horned Frogs’ air raid offense and has fantastic running ability. Wide receivers KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Reagor are two of the fastest players in college football, each boasting sub-4.4 unofficial 40-yard dash times. The Horned Frogs also pose a serious threat on special teams. They’ve already scored two punt return touchdowns this season, one of which belongs to Turpin.

Quarterbacks

Nick Fitzgerald (Mississippi State): $10,600 DraftKings, $10,00 FanDuel

Fitzgerald’s fantasy value is grounded in his rushing upside. Last season he rushed for 984 yards and a whopping 16 touchdowns. In his first game of action last week against Kansas State, he rushed 19 times for 159 yards. Those rushing lines are typical of elite running backs, not quarterbacks. The Bulldogs have an implied point total of nearly seven touchdowns against Louisiana, and Fitzgerald should dominate the Bulldogs’ market share for those scores.

Ty Gangi (Nevada): $8,500 DraftKings, N/A FanDuel

Gangi had a sub-par performance against Vanderbilt last week but should rebound nicely against a weak Oregon State defense. The Beavers rank 101st in Defensive S&P+ and are conceding 605.5 yards per game this season. Gangi averaged a 274.6-2.5-1.1 passing line in 2017 and also possesses sneaky rushing upside. Nevada’s game against Oregon State has a current under/over of 69, and this game could threaten the over. Gangi should benefit from positive game script and high usage against the Beavers.

Shawn Robinson (TCU): $6,800 DraftKings, $9,300 FanDuel

Robinson is an electric playmaker for the Horned Frogs who offers compelling rushing upside. Through two games this season, he leads TCU in rushing with 112 yards and three touchdowns. He is not an elite passing quarterback, and this week he’ll have to contend with a talented but untested Ohio State secondary. In the Buckeyes’ first two games of the season, both Oregon State and Rutgers chose a run-heavy offensive game plan. Robinson’s rushing threat may force Ohio State into man coverage on the outside, and TCU may have enough speed at receiver to bust that man coverage. Robinson’s rushing volume keeps his fantasy floor high, but he could also be responsible for big plays downfield against the Buckeyes.

Running Backs

Jermar Jefferson (Oregon State): $7,400 DraftKings, N/A FanDuel

Against Southern Utah last week, starting running back Artavis Pierce suffered an elbow injury and has been ruled out for the next four weeks. Jefferson stepped into the Beavers’ No. 1 running back role and had a career day, rushing 22 times for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Oregon State has fed its running backs 29 rushes per game on average this season. With Pierce sidelined due to injury, a large majority of those carries will go to the talented freshman, Jefferson. Nevada’s defense currently ranks 98th in Defensive S&P+ and could concede significant yardage to the Beavers.

Aca’Cedric Ware (USC): $5,200 DraftKings, $8,800 FanDuel

There are limited value running back options in the $4k to $6k range on this slate. Among the options available, Ware likely boasts the most consistent workload and upside. Although he splits time in the USC backfield with Stephen Carr and Vavae Malepeai, he has out-touched both running backs in each of the Trojans’ first two games. He has totaled a 28-159-1 rushing line and is averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Opponents have averaged 191.5 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Longhorns so far this year, and Ware should receive the lion’s share of that potential production.

Brad Anderson (Middle Tennessee State): $3,600 DraftKings, N/A FanDuel

Anderson is the Blue Raiders’ starting H-Back and is primarily used as a receiving threat. In nine games last year, Anderson totaled a 89-491-0 rushing line (5.5 yards per carry) and a 33-338-3 receiving line. So far this season, he has registered just one carry but has put together a 11-178-0 receiving line. His unique distribution of touches and receiving upside make him a great value pick at the bottom of this slate’s running back class.

Wide Receivers

Emanuel Hall (Missouri): $8,200 DraftKings, $9,600 FanDuel

Hall is having a monstrous start to the 2018 season. He’s averaging a 7-171-1.5 receiving line per game, good for 36.1 DraftKings points per contest. He has seemingly absorbed all of J’Mon Moore’s targets from last year, more than doubling his receiving output per game.

His big-play ability is next level. Through two games, he already has seven catches over 25 yards, three of which have gone for touchdowns. The Tigers will look to avenge their embarrassing loss to Purdue last season, and Hall should be the focal point of Missouri’s offensive game plan against the Boilermakers.

Collin Johnson (Texas): $6,400 DraftKings, $7,500 FanDuel

Lil’Jordan Humphrey has had an electric start to the 2018 season, but make no mistake: Collin Johnson is the man for Texas. He has managed a modest 7-96-1 receiving line for the Longhorns through two games, but that receiving line is not reflective of his potential. He’s 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds and possesses a huge catch radius for quarterback Sam Ehlinger.

Last season, Johnson amassed a 54-765-2 receiving line as the Longhorns’ leading receiver. He also burned USC last season with seven catches for 191 yards.

Ty Lee (Middle Tennessee State): $3,800 DraftKings, N/A FanDuel

In only two seasons of action, Lee has already become one of the most decorated Blue Raiders wide receivers in the program’s history. He ranks fifth all time in receptions, seventh in receiving yards, and 10th in receiving touchdowns. He posted a 79-955-5 receiving line last year while adding 109 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. He is unequivocally the Blue Raiders’ top receiving threat, and his fantasy value benefits from his high-volume market share for receiving targets.
