Game of the Slate: Florida Atlantic at UCF (-13.5)

After losing 63-14 to Kyler Murray and the Oklahoma Sooners, Florida Atlantic is out to prove itself against a talented UCF squad. FAU’s offense heavily features running back Devin Singletary, who has 210 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns this season. The Owls also have a much-improved passing game led by talented quarterback Chris Robison. He’ll look to target Jovon Durante and Willie Wright against the Golden Knights.

Heisman hopeful McKenzie Milton leads UCF’s spread offense, and he has a bevy of talented skill players around him. RB Adrian Killins Jr. and utility player Otis Anderson anchor the Golden Knights backfield, and both offer receiving and special teams upside. The receiving corps is made up of a trio of athletic wide receivers in Gabriel DavisDredrick Snelson and Ole Miss transfer Tre Nixon.

This game has by far the highest point total of the slate, and both offenses have intriguing DFS options that likely warrants an aggressive game stack.

Quarterbacks

McKenzie Milton (UCF): $10,500 DraftKings; $10,200 FanDuel

UCF’s offense is implied for 45.25 points against FAU, and the best way to access that hefty offensive production is by rostering Milton. He is the most-expensive quarterback in the slate, but he’s worth every penny. Last season, McKenzie amassed a colossal 4037-37-9 passing line as he led the fifth-most productive offense in the country. The Golden Knights picked up where they left off last year, currently ranking second in the NCAA in total yards per game (609.0).

Penn State QB Trace McSorley is also very much in play in this salary range. However, McSorley likely carries more risk of an early exit in a potential blowout against Illinois.

Gardner Minshew II (Washington State): $7,500 DraftKings; $10,300 FanDuel

Minshew was Mike Leach’s best-kept secret this offseason. The graduate transfer starting quarterback has led the Cougars to three wins to start the season, averaging a staggering 401.0 passing yards per game along the way. Washington State has the No. 2 passing offense in the NCAA and now faces its toughest test yet against USC. The Trojans have struggled without quarterback Sam Darnold and have faced ample criticism to open this season. Washington State may have caught the Trojans at the right time. If Minshew and the Cougars’ stellar offense get up early, the wheels could fall off for Clay Helton and USC.

AJ Bush (Illinois): $4,500 DraftKings; $6,400 FanDuel

Bush offers good rushing upside as a punt option for quarterback. Through two games, he has rushed 26 times for 142 yards. That said, he injured his hamstring in Week 2 and missed the Illini’s contest against South Florida. If Bush is cleared to start against Penn State, he should provide a moderate fantasy floor due to his rushing volume. Illinois is dealing with substantial injuries and suspensions to its receiving corps and will be reliant on its running attack to move the ball against the Nittany Lions.

If Bush is not able to play this week, consider rostering his backup, M.J. Rivers II. Rivers is not the same rushing threat that Bush is, but he is a more polished passer, throwing for 273 yards and two touchdowns in two games this season.

Running Backs

Devin Singletary (Florida Atlantic): $8,600 DraftKings; $10,000 FanDuel

Singletary boasts a massive 36.7% fantasy points market share percentage for the Florida Atlantic Owls, which is a fancy way of saying that he is the unquestioned focal point of their offense. He’s already scored seven rushing touchdowns this young college football season after scoring 32 last year. And speaking of last year, Singletary finished fourth in the FBS in rushing with 1,918 yards on 301 carries. The Owls feature an improved passing attack with Robison, but make no mistake: Singletary is the cornerstone of their offensive attack.

James Williams (Washington State): $6,300 DraftKings; $10,100 FanDuel

Williams has rushed only 32 times for 137 yards this season, which is unsettling for a No. 1 running back. However, he has more than made up for his poor rushing volume with his receiving and touchdown upside. He has posted an 18-127-2 receiving line through three games, which is better than most wide receivers in this slate. On top of that, he’s added four rushing touchdowns. For a team that wants to pass frequently, Williams is the perfect receiving back with enough muscle to warrant red-zone touches. Roster him with confidence against a downward-trending USC team.

Reggie Corbin (Illinois): $4,000 DraftKings; $7,800 FanDuel

Corbin and fellow running back Mike Epstein ($4,200 DraftKings; $8,500 FanDuel) form a dynamic one-two punch in the Illini backfield. Corbin gets the slight nod here due to his price point, but both Illinois running backs should be in consideration this week. The pair has combined for a 72-491-5 rushing line through three games while adding an 11-86-0 receiving line. With a shallow and severely injured receiving corps, head coach Lovie Smith will have no choice but to run the ball heavily in this game, which should result in hefty volume for both running backs.

Wide Receivers

Amon-Ra St. Brown (USC): $6,500 DraftKings; $9,300 FanDuel

St. Brown may be USC’s lone bright spot so far this season. Even though Helton insists on listing him as a backup on the Trojans’ official two-deep roster, St. Brown is undoubtedly USC’s top receiving threat, averaging 6.0 catches and 100.3 yards per game this year. He is also coming off his biggest performance yet against Texas, amassing a 9-167-0 receiving line in the loss. The Trojans have used a frustratingly egalitarian running back committee, which leaves St. Brown as USC’s most dynamic offensive play-maker.

Davontavean Martin (Washington State): $6,000 DraftKings; $9,600 FanDuel

Martin is coming off a huge game last week against Eastern Washington in which he caught 13 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown. The electric sophomore wide receiver has put together a 24-290-3 receiving line for the season and is averaging 8.0 catches per contest. There are plenty of cheap Cougars receivers to roster this week, but Martin boasts the highest ceiling and touchdown upside among them.

Easop Winston Jr. (Washington State): $3,200 DraftKings; $7,000 FanDuel

Speaking of cheap Cougars receivers, consider rostering Winston Jr. this week. Simply put, he’s dramatically mispriced in this slate. The JUCO transfer has hauled in 12 catches and two receiving touchdowns this season as part of Washington State’s platoon-based air raid offense. The speedy junior was electric at the junior-college level, gaining more than 2,000 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns in two seasons. At just $3,200 at DraftKings, he’s dirt cheap with plenty of upside.
