Bales: How I Build MLB Lineups on FantasyLabs

One of the cool things we help you do at FantasyLabs is take a whole bunch of unique data and model it in a way that makes player evaluation a super-efficient process. It’s really an awesome thing to be able to weight various stats how you’d like, backtest it right away for its ability to predict DFS value, and then easily create lineups off of your model.

But you can’t just blindly trust the numbers at all times. There’s a lot of subjectivity that goes into daily fantasy sports, especially in baseball – a game that’s extremely holistic and game-theory-driven.

I created a long-ish video walking you through a typical lineup creation process. There’s a whole lot of stuff I think about when setting lineups and lots of things I consider that aren’t something you can capture with a model.

This particular slate was just four games, which calls for a much different approach than, say, a 12-game slate. I’ll create more of these videos in the future just to try to give you a glimpse into my thought process while creating MLB lineups.
