Mavericks-Celtics Game 1 Pick

The first step in crowning an NBA champion starts tomorrow night with Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics.

Boston is favored by 6.5 points in Game 1, and that feels a smidge too high. Even though I think the Celtics will win the series and likely win on Thursday night, this number just feels a bit too big.

On the other side, I think Boston could be a bit rusty after nine days off and its offense may lack some flow as it tries to reintegrate Kristaps Porzingis into the lineup. Plus, the Celtics are no strangers to close games after three wins by five points or fewer over the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
