Dallas will have a chance to definitively take advantage in the series by winning Game 4 at home and getting a 3-1 lead. Doncic is still averaging 27.7 points per game in the postseason and notably scored 29 points in Game 2 against the Thunder.
Jayson Tatum’s scoring has been worrisome during the playoffs. He is only averaging 23.1 points per game and has only scored more than 28.5 points once during the postseason. Though he did bounce back in Game 3 against the Cavaliers with a 33-point performance, Tatum’s overall play suggests that he will get less than 28.5 points here.
Though Chet Holmgren was a solid 3PT shooter during the regular season, his long-range shooting has dropped off in the playoffs. The big man has failed to get more than 1.5 3PT makes in five out of his seven playoff games, and is only shooting 27.8% from beyond the arc in the postseason. Holmgren may continue to struggle against the Mavericks in Game 3.
