NFL DFS Picks: Top OwnersBox Plays in Week 18

OwnersBox is one of the unique DFS sites that still has traditional daily salary cap contests in addition to their Lightning Lineups contests.

In Lightning Lineups, the OwnersBox app will provide three sets of lineups for a given sport and slate, each lineup with three players. From there, users pick which lineup they think will score the most points. If you don’t like the options, you can spin for new lineups.

Spin. Pick. Win. OwnersBox innovative Lighting Lineups format is the most electric way to play daily fantasy sports.

Another reason to sign up with OwnersBox is their current Big Game Giveaway promotion. When you enter a lineup, you’ll earn “giveaway entries” for their Big Game drawing. What can you win? Two FRONT ROW tickets to Super Bowl LVIII + a VIP Fan Experience + Meet & Greets + Flights & Accommodations — over $40K in value!

Also, our OwnersBox promo code delivers new users a $500 sign-up offer. Their 100% deposit match up to $500 is by far the best among DFS sites.

Anyway, this article will focus on the more traditional salary cap DFS lineups that we’re all accustomed to. The best part about OwnersBox is their DFS product is a Superflex format with no defense.

I’ll be highlighting my favorite play at each position using our NFL projections inside our NFL Player Models.

NFL DFS Quarterback Pick

Geno Smith ($6,000) at Arizona Cardinals

While Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts still have enough to play for to be two of the top options on Sunday’s 13-game slate, Geno Smith projects to be right there with them in terms of Pts/Sal and comes much cheaper. Smith and the Seahawks need a win, along with some help from the Bears against the Packers, to get into the postseason, so they’re sure to be very aggressive in this favorable matchup against Arizona.

Smith is the eighth-most expensive quarterback projected to play this week but brings the fifth-highest ceiling projection. His 3.0 Pts/Sal is second on the entire slate behind only Dak, which makes him a strong consideration in the OwnersBox Superflex format.

The Seahawks beat Arizona 20-10 back in Week 6, and Geno threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns. He has thrown multiple scores in five of his last nine games dating back to that performance and threw for 290 yards in last week’s loss to the Steelers. He has averaged 255.5 passing yards per game over his last eight games, with six games over 225 yards.

Opposing quarterbacks have thrived against Arizona this season, averaging 227.5 passing yards per game and totaling 35 touchdowns in 16 games. In this great matchup, Smith should be able to bring good upside at his affordable salary while he wraps up his second full season as Seattle’s starter.

NFL DFS Running Back Pick

Pierre Strong ($4,000) at Cincinnati Bengals

If you’re looking for a “Strong” value play at running back, the Browns appear to be ready to deliver exactly what you need (sorry, I couldn’t help it). Strong is only $4,000, but he’s shaping up to be the team’s feature back against the Bengals. As a result, he has the highest Pts/Sal of all running backs on Sunday’s slate.

Even a season-ending injury to Nick Chubb (knee) didn’t get Strong much playing time since Kareem Hunt was brought back and Jerome Ford emerged as the lead back. However, both Hunt and Ford are expected to rest this week, along with Joe Flacco, while Jeff Driskel gets the start at quarterback. Since Driskel is new to the team, I expect the Browns to go fairly run-heavy, especially against the Bengals, who have been beatable on the ground lately.

In his limited work this season, Strong has averaged 4.6 yards per carry on his 49 carries while adding 47 more yards on five receptions. He has had at least four carries in each of the Browns’ last two games and flashed for over 20 yards. If he can continue to be so effective with more work, he brings the potential for a monster performance.

The Bengals should be a great matchup after allowing eight running back touchdowns in their last eight games and over 100 rushing yards to opposing running backs in three straight contests. Ty Chandler has his breakout game against the Bengals, and Strong could have a similar showing this week if things go his way.

Other running backs with good projections this week include Ezekiel Elliott, Bijan Robinson, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

NFL DFS Wide Receiver Pick

D.J. Moore ($6,000) at Green Bay Packers

The Bears are already locked into the top pick in the NFL Draft (via last year’s trade with the Panthers) and eliminated from the playoffs. They still can play spoiler, though, and likely keep the Packers from the playoffs by getting a win on Sunday. Moore has the second-highest Pts/Sal of all receivers this week, behind only CeeDee Lamb.

Moore and Justin Fields have shown a strong connection over the last few weeks and showcased a high ceiling. In the six weeks since Fields returned, Moore has scored three touchdowns while averaging 84.5 receiving yards and 6.7 receptions on 9.8 targets per game. He had nine catches for 159 yards and a touchdown last week as the Bears roared past the Falcons.

It has been an up-and-down season for Moore in Chicago, but he has totaled 1,300 yards with nine touchdowns. He has had several monster games and brings a high ceiling to Sunday’s season finale as well. The Packers expect to get Jaire Alexander back on the field this week, but opposing receivers have lit them up for five touchdowns in the last four weeks, including two games with over 200 receiving yards.

If you need a cheaper play, Cedric Tillman has boom-or-bust potential. Other cost-effective options include Wan’Dale Robinson, Ronnie Bell, and Richie James.

NFL DFS Tight End Pick

Evan Engram ($5,000) at Tennessee Titans

There are multiple strong value plays at tight end in Week 18, but one of the safest options with the most upside is veteran tight end Evan Engram. Engram has the third-highest Pts/Sal at the position and has really picked up his production over the last few weeks since the injury to Christian Kirk.

Engram has averaged 9.6 targets per game over his last five contests and converted 8.0 receptions for 72.0 yards. He had three touchdowns in those five games as well. Two weeks ago, he caught 10 of 15 targets for 95 yards in Trevor Lawrence’s last start. Last week, Lawrence was out, and C.J. Beathard stepped in. All six of Beathard’s targets for Engram resulted in completions for a total of 60 yards.

Whichever quarterback starts for the Jags, they’ll look Engram’s way often enough to make him a strong play in this “win-and-get-in” scenario for Jacksonville. Opposing tight ends have scored in each of the last two weeks against the Titans and have averaged 46.2 receiving yards per game over the last five weeks.
