In this article, we will go position by position, highlighting my favorite plays for both cash games and single-entry/three-max GPP contests. These plays are also viable in large field tournaments but do not focus on ownership percentages.
NFL DFS Cash Game + Single-Entry GPP Locks
NFL DFS Quarterback Picks
Josh Allen ($8,500 DraftKings, $9,200 FanDuel) Buffalo Bills vs. Cleveland Browns
Allen was likely too expensive for his upside had this game been played in Buffalo, which has gotten about 70 feet of snow over the past 24 hours. However, the game has since been moved to the comfy confines of Ford Field in Detroit. With that news, the total of this game rose from 44 to 49.5, mainly because the Buffalo implied team total went from 24.75 to 28.5, which is now the highest on the Week 11 main slate.
Cleveland’s defense is nothing to be feared despite having Myles Garrett healthy, having already been torched by the Dolphins, Patriots, Jets, and Chargers this season. No quarterback on this slate has the floor or ceiling that Allen possesses, and I expect this to be a get-right spot for the sputtering Bills team.
Kirk Cousins ($6,500 DraftKings, $7,600 FanDuel) Minnesota Vikings vs. Dallas Cowboys Lions
If you prefer not to pay all the way up for Allen in cash games, Cousins could find himself in a home shootout with the Cowboys. He and Justin Jefferson have been absolutely cooking over the last two weeks, having connected 17 times for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Dallas just got obliterated by Christian Watson and have been vulnerable through the air of late. This game also boasts the third-highest total on the slate and could easily combust with all the talent on both sides.
Cousins has over 40 pass attempts in five of nine games this season, keeping his floor high enough at just $6,100.
NFL DFS Running Back Picks
Saquon Barkley ($8,900 DraftKings, $9,700 FanDuel) New York Giants vs. Detroit Lions
Barkley is not cheap, but his floor/ceiling combination is higher than virtually anyone on this slate outside of Josh Allen. He’s simply getting too much work to be ignored right now. Last week he saw a Derrick Henry-like 35 carries against the Texans, which he turned into 157 yards and a touchdown, good for 26 DK points. It marked the seventh time in nine games that Barkey has seen 25 or more opportunities.
Both Wan’Dale Robinson and Kenny Golladay are questionable to play this week, so Barkley will yet again be the focal point of the offense in an absolute dream spot at home against the Lions. Detroit just got absolutely torched on the ground for 258 yards by Justin Fields and Co. last week vs. the Bears.
Whatever value play you have to roster to make Barkley fit this week, it might be a good idea to do so.
David Montgomery (6,100 DraftKings, $6,200 FanDuel) Chicago Bears @ Atlanta Falcons
Khalil Herbert has been placed in injured reserve with a hip injury, setting the table for D-Mont to retake his workhorse role back in this Bears offense. Herbert had virtually turned this backfield into a 50/50 timeshare, getting 10 more carries in three of his past four games.
Montgomery couldn’t have taken over this role at a better time, as the Bears face the putrid Atlanta defense in the dome this week. The Falcons have allowed the seventh most points in the NFL and rank 23rd in DK points allowed to running backs. He’s still priced as if he’s splitting work, meaning he’s way too cheap for his expected role.
Don’t overthink this one.
NFL DFS Wide Receiver Picks
CeeDee Lamb ($7,500 DraftKings, $8,100 FanDuel) Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings
Lamb finally turned his NFL-leading target share into results last week, as he erupted for 11 catches, 150 yards, and two touchdowns against the Packers. He’ll have a much easier time this week against the Vikings, who have allowed the third most receptions, second-most receiving yards, and fifth-highest catch rate to opposing wideouts. Michael Gallup looks incredibly dusty since returning from his knee injury, and Noah Brown is a WR5 masquerading as a WR3.
Lamb will continue to feast as long as Dak Prescott is healthy and is the best WR play on the board this week when you factor in salary and game environment.
Parris Campbell ($4,300 DraftKings, $5,800 FanDuel) Indianapolis Colts vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Campbell and Matt Ryan had developed a really nice rapport before he was injured/benched. He combined for 17 catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns in Weeks 6 and 7. Campbell then picked up right where he left off with Ryan in his first game back against the Raiders last week, going 7/96/1 on nine targets.
Despite this recent production, DraftKings did not move his price much, as he’s still sitting at just $4,300. The spot isn’t too clean against the Eagles’ tough secondary. However, they did just beat pretty badly by Terry McLaurin last week, and we know the Colts will need to put up points to win this game.
Campbell is simply too cheap for his role as long as Ryan is the quarterback, more importantly, is a much need source of value on a week largely bereft of any.
NFL DFS Tight End Picks
Dalton Schultz ($4,300 DraftKings, $5,900 FanDuel) Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings
Schultz has looked really good since recovering from his knee injury, catching at least five balls in each of the past three weeks. Last week he went 6/54/1 against a good Packers defense and has basically taken over the WR2 role in this Cowboys offense. Last season we saw Schultz’s price over $5,000 on DraftKings for a majority of the year, so if he continues this recent production, you can argue he’s underpriced this week at just $4,300.
As mentioned above, this is one of the best game environments on the week against one of the more forgiving secondaries in the NFL.
Hayden Hurst ($3,500 DraftKings, $5,200 FanDuel) Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers defense has been gettable by tight ends this season, and now Hurst finds himself as the third option in the Bengals’ passing offense while Ja’Marr Chase is sidelined. He’s gone over 10 DK points in three of his past six games and caught at least four passes in four of his past five. That’s pretty nice production for someone who costs just $3,500. The tight end position has been decimated with injuries to Mark Andrews, Zach Ertz, and Darren Waller — plus Travis Kelce not being on the main slate — leaving very few good options to sift through.
Hurst has been playing well, is in a good spot, and is quite affordable on an ugly slate, putting him firmly in play in all formats.
