Week 16 NFL DFS Stacks and Tips: Should You Build Around Russell Wilson?

This piece will identify some of my favorite DFS stacks of the weekend. Be sure to use our Stacking tool found within our Player Models to find the highest projected stacks, the stacks that figure to be chalky and more. Our Correlations page is also a great resource to find hidden edges in stacking positions and games.

Quarterback + Wide Receiver

  • Russell Wilson ($7000 DraftKings, $8300 FanDuel)
  • Tyler Lockett ($7200 DraftKings, $7600 FanDuel)

Thou shalt not fade Russell Wilson at home in 2019.

The Seattle signal-caller has enjoyed an MVP season, especially at home.

Wilson’s cost is relatively low for a player that is averaging a robust 31 fantasy points per game at home against an Arizona defense that allows the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

Sometimes, fantasy football doesn’t have to be hard.

Don’t be afraid to pair Wilson with the volatile Tyler Lockett, who has started his annual end of season rally. The Cardinals have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, one of only three teams that have allowed over 200 receptions to wideouts. Lockett has finally shaken off back and leg injuries and tallied the overall WR6 performance last week with eight receptions, 120 receiving yards, and a touchdown.

Lockett’s potential matchup should not concern DFS owners, with Arizona cornerback Patrick Peterson only rated as the 49th-best cornerback per PFF. While his yearly performance has been sporadic, Lockett has still produced three Top 6 overall wide receiver games, including the Week 9 overall WR1.

With the highest over/under total of Week 16, it is important to gain exposure to the Seattle offense at home against a sieve of a Cardinals defense. Take advantage of the low-pricing on Wilson and his lead wideout at home.

Running Back + DEF/Special Teams

  • Phillip Lindsay ($5200 DraftKings, $6300 FanDuel)
  • Broncos D/ST ($3500 DraftKings, $5000 FanDuel)

Situation and matchup trump all in DFS.

The Broncos return home to face a Detroit team that has lost 11 of their past 12 games including seven games in a row. There are rumors that quarterback David Blough could be benched for backup Kyle Sloter.

Either way, the Denver defense is a strong start at home in Mile High Stadium.

Phillip Lindsay’s one Top 24 running back finish in the past five games should help hold down his ownership percentage. Look for a big bounceback at home against a Lions defense that allows the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

Lindsay is head coach Vic Fangio’s preferred rushing option in Denver wins, with Royce Freeman earning more snaps and touches in negative game scripts. Lindsay averaged 19 touches in Denver’s past two wins, and just seven total touches in the Broncos 23-3 loss at Kansas City in Week 15.

The Lions offensive line ranks 22nd in run-blocking and has allowed 43 sacks (seventh-most) this season. Denver’s 44 sacks are eighth-most, creating turnover opportunities for either Blough or Sloter.

This game carries the second-lowest total of the week (38.5), fueling the RB + DEF/ST stack. Play Fangio’s defense against a Detroit team on a seven-game losing streak, pairing with the Broncos running back of choice in positive game-script situations.

Quarterback + Wide Receiver + Opposing Wide Receiver

  • Ryan Fitzpatrick ($6000 DraftKings, $87400 FanDuel)
  • DeVante Parker ($6800 DraftKings, $6900 FanDuel)
  • Tyler Boyd ($5800 DraftKings, $6300 FanDuel)

The game that could define fantasy championships across America in Week 16?

The Dolphins (3-11) host the Bengals (1-13).

Despite the poor record, this game carries sneaky fantasy appeal with an affordable QB + WR + Opposing WR stack.  Miami quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has three overall QB7 or better performances in his past four games. He carries that valuable Konami code rushing upside as well, with 98 rushing yards in the Dolphins last two games.

There have been very few wide receivers more impressive over the last month than Miami’s DeVante Parker. The Dolphins’ wideout has three overall Top 10 PPR WR finishes since Week 11, including the overall WR1 performance in Week 13. The Bengals 30th-ranked defense (including 27th against the pass) should provide opportunities for the Fitzpatrick-Parker connection to continue producing.

This is also a great spot for Cincinnati’s Tyler Boyd, who ranks eighth among all wideouts with 125 targets, and 10th with 76 receptions. He will likely be matched up with Miami cornerback Jomal Wiltz, who ranks 137th in coverage rating via PlayerProfiler.

In a game with two poor defenses and a 46.5 over/under, I favor two wideouts that have been among the top targeted receivers in the league over the past month, and a quarterback with rushing upside and likely passing volume.

Despite the poor records, there is plenty of DFS gold in the Miami-Cincinnati Week 16 battle.
