Cash Game Strategy
Russell Wilson has the highest floor, median, ceiling and Projected Plus/Minus in our DraftKings Showdown Models. If you go Wilson in the Captain spot, you can fit the other five highest-projected floor plays on the slate: Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Chris Carson, Jason Myers and Greg Zuerlein. It’s not ideal to fade Rashaad Penny, who saw 19 touches and scored twice last week, but Carson still saw 24, and Penny’s price has increased to the point that he has the lowest Projected Plus/Minus on the entire slate. Including Penny along with Wilson, Goff, Gurley and Carson would mean using Gurley in the Captain spot and punting the last spot with Malcolm Brown, which would result in a lineup combination that projects for 7 fewer points than what you’d get by using Wilson in the Captain spot and fading Penny.
On FanDuel, you can’t fit all four of Wilson, Goff, Gurley and Carson. Wilson and Goff are projected for 7 and 4 more points, respectively, than any non-QB, so they should be locked in. For the final three spots, I’d split exposure between Gurley-Myers-Brandin Cooks and Carson-Jacob Hollister–Tyler Higbee (who will start at tight end with Gerald Everett out with a knee injury) in order to get exposure to both lead backs. The former is projected for a slightly higher median, but I think it’s too risky to go with 100% Wilson in the MVP spot and no exposure to Carson.
