Adam Levitan projects ownership for every NFL DFS player each week in the FantasyLabs Player Models. Gauging ownership is important when it comes to tournaments so you can try to gain leverage on the field. You don’t need a team of 1%-owned players to win a tournament, but it’s also unlikely you’ll win a tournament with an abundance of highly-owned players.
The goal of this article is to give a brief rundown of the players we project to be the highest owned heading into the week, along with how they can affect roster construction.
Be sure to check the ownership projections throughout the week, as breaking news can cause these to fluctuate.
Note: Ownership percentages as of Friday morning.
Quarterbacks
Quarterback ownership is relatively flat week-to-week, and this week is no different with Russell Wilson and Derek Carr projected for the highest ownership at 13-16% on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
I’d expect them — along with Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford — to garner most of the ownership among quarterbacks. Of this group of quarterbacks, only Stafford boasts a positive Leverage Plus/Minus for large-field tournaments.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t roster any of these quarterbacks in GPPs, because they’re all great plays. But most leverage in tournaments happens at the other positions because quarterback scoring is typically far more condensed.
Running Backs
Despite the hefty price tags, Christian McCaffrey and Dalvin Cook are projected to be two of the highest owned players on the entire slate.
